Emotional and Mental Health Support Assistant Secondary School Thurrock
A proactive and inclusive secondary school in Thurrock is actively seeking an Emotional and Mental Health Support Assistant to provide essential support to students facing emotional and mental health challenges. In this fulltime role you will play a key part in helping students navigate their emotional landscape fostering resilience and promoting wellbeing within the school community.
Role Highlights
- Fulltime position in a forwardthinking secondary school committed to student mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Receive comprehensive training in mental health support equipping you with the skills and knowledge to effectively assist students in managing their emotional and social challenges
- Provide oneonone and small group support to students helping them develop coping strategies improve selfesteem and enhance their emotional regulation skills
- Collaborate closely with the SEN and pastoral teams to create tailored support plans that address the unique needs of students ensuring a holistic approach to their wellbeing
- Engage in regular communication with teachers parents and external agencies to monitor student progress and provide ongoing support as needed
- Participate in school initiatives and programs aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues promoting a positive school culture that prioritizes student wellbeing
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in mental health support pastoral care or a related field is preferred particularly within an educational setting
- A compassionate and calm approach to sensitive issues with the ability to create a safe and trusting environment for students to express their feelings
- Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication and collaboration with students staff and parents
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to adapt to the varying needs of students in different emotional states
- A current and clear Enhanced DBS check is essential to ensure the safety and security of all students
