About The Role

Machine Health Monitoring Specialist

Be the early warning system for an entire fleet of mining equipment. From a remote monitoring centre, you'll oversee the performance, diagnostics, and health of heavy machinery — spotting issues before they become breakdowns, minimizing downtime, and extending equipment life across mining operations.

Ideally you're a mechanical engineer with hands-on experience maintaining mobile equipment — underground trucks, loaders, drills, and similar heavy machinery.

What you'll do

Continuous Monitoring & Data Analysis — Monitor real-time data from machine health sensors, IoT devices, and diagnostic systems. Use remote monitoring software and predictive analytics to track performance, catching anomalies, early wear, and maintenance needs. Own and manage the equipment health dashboard, covering status and operational alerts.

Diagnostics & Fault Detection — Read the data and trends to detect mechanical faults, wear and tear, and inefficiencies. Deliver detailed analysis and corrective-action recommendations drawing on vibration analysis, temperature monitoring, and fuel usage. Work with on-site maintenance teams for timely troubleshooting and resolution.

Predictive Maintenance — Implement and improve predictive models that forecast failures before they happen. Partner with the maintenance team to schedule activity around predicted failure data, minimizing unscheduled downtime, and refine the models against performance and historical trends.

Reporting & Documentation — Produce regular reports on equipment health, performance trends, and significant issues for management. Document all maintenance, diagnostics, and corrective actions in line with operational and safety standards. Track KPIs across uptime, failure rates, and maintenance effectiveness.

Collaboration with On-site Teams — Be the point of contact for site personnel on equipment health and maintenance schedules. Provide remote support and guidance to technicians and operators, especially on complex issues, and keep site teams across maintenance priorities and urgent items.

Technology & System Management — Keep all monitoring systems, sensors, and software fully operational and integrated with equipment. Liaise with IT support on software and hardware infrastructure. Stay ahead of new technology and bring in solutions that improve monitoring and predictive capability.

Health, Safety & Compliance — Ensure monitoring activities meet safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental requirements. Drive continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and cost. Take part in safety audits and use health data to improve equipment safety features.

How success is measured (KPIs)

  • Machine Uptime — equipment uptime vs. downtime from failures
  • Predictive Maintenance Accuracy — share of maintenance taken proactively from predictive signals
  • Fault Detection Time — average time from detecting a fault to resolving it
  • Cost Reduction — drop in unplanned maintenance costs through early detection
  • Data Integrity & Accuracy — quality of diagnostic reports and monitored data
  • Health & Safety Compliance — safety incidents related to equipment health and monitoring
