About The Role
- The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's fleet of vehicles
- and equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective. This
- position manages vehicle acquisition, maintenance, repairs, licensing, fuel usage,
- driver compliance, and fleet performance while ensuring adherence to company
- policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- ● Manage the daily operations of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment.
- ● Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize
- downtime.
- ● Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs, and warranty work with internal
- technicians and external vendors.
- ● Monitor fleet performance, utilization, fuel consumption, and operating costs.
- ● Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including
- DOT, OSHA, and environmental requirements where applicable.
- ● Maintain accurate records for vehicle registrations, titles, insurance, permits,
- inspections, and maintenance history.
- ● Oversee vehicle acquisition, replacement, disposal, and asset lifecycle
- management.
- ● Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, repair facilities, leasing
- companies, and fuel providers.
- ● Monitor driver qualifications, licensing, training, and compliance with
- company safety policies.
- ● Investigate vehicle accidents and coordinate insurance claims and corrective
- actions.
- ● Develop and enforce fleet policies and procedures.
- ● Prepare reports and analyze fleet metrics to identify opportunities for cost
- savings and operational improvements.
- ● Manage fleet budgets and recommend capital expenditures.
- ● Handle the coordination of after-hours support as needed.
Required Qualifications
- ● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation
- Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
- ● High school diploma or equivalent required.
- ● Minimum of 3–5 years of fleet management or transportation management
- experience.
- ● Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- ● Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair practices.
- ● Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and vehicle safety
- standards.
- ● Experience with fleet management software and GPS/telematics systems.
- ● Strong analytical and budgeting skills.
- ● Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- ● Strong communication and leadership skills.
- ● Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and service providers.
- ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- ● Ability to analyze reports and make data-driven decisions.
- ● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
