About The Role

  • The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's fleet of vehicles
  • and equipment to ensure they are safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective. This
  • position manages vehicle acquisition, maintenance, repairs, licensing, fuel usage,
  • driver compliance, and fleet performance while ensuring adherence to company
  • policies and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • ● Manage the daily operations of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment.
  • ● Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize
  • downtime.
  • ● Coordinate vehicle inspections, repairs, and warranty work with internal
  • technicians and external vendors.
  • ● Monitor fleet performance, utilization, fuel consumption, and operating costs.
  • ● Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including
  • DOT, OSHA, and environmental requirements where applicable.
  • ● Maintain accurate records for vehicle registrations, titles, insurance, permits,
  • inspections, and maintenance history.
  • ● Oversee vehicle acquisition, replacement, disposal, and asset lifecycle
  • management.
  • ● Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors, repair facilities, leasing
  • companies, and fuel providers.
  • ● Monitor driver qualifications, licensing, training, and compliance with
  • company safety policies.
  • ● Investigate vehicle accidents and coordinate insurance claims and corrective
  • actions.
  • ● Develop and enforce fleet policies and procedures.
  • ● Prepare reports and analyze fleet metrics to identify opportunities for cost
  • savings and operational improvements.
  • ● Manage fleet budgets and recommend capital expenditures.
  • ● Handle the coordination of after-hours support as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • ● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation
  • Management, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • ● High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ● Minimum of 3–5 years of fleet management or transportation management
  • experience.
  • ● Experience managing commercial vehicle fleets preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • ● Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance and repair practices.
  • ● Understanding of DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and vehicle safety
  • standards.
  • ● Experience with fleet management software and GPS/telematics systems.
  • ● Strong analytical and budgeting skills.
  • ● Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • ● Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • ● Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors and service providers.
  • ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • ● Ability to analyze reports and make data-driven decisions.
  • ● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
