About The Role

Who we are looking for

Based in the Manilla office, you will be leading a team of dedicated financial reporting professionals who are focused on delivering interim and annual US GAAP/IFRS financial statements to a diverse group of alternative investment managers.

Why this role is important to us

This is a key leadership role in Alternatives Financial Reporting reporting to the Head of Alternatives Financial Reporting. The position oversees all Alterative Financial Reporting activity in Manilla across multiple countries working in close collaboration with the regional and global GD leadership team to drive excellence in service delivery to our clients, optimize operating models, reduce risk, and drive strong employee engagement as well as ensuring that local jurisdictional client, regulatory and product requirements are met.

What you will be responsible for

  • Responsible for oversight of a diverse group of global personnel involved in the preparation of interim / annual financial statements for alternative investments products (hedge, private markets and real estate).
  • Maintain market knowledge on comparable products and ensure State Street’s product offering is best in class
  • Support new business integration and ensure operating models are designed to deliver best of breed service to clients leveraging global footprint as necessary
  • Responsible for determining the future direction of the global financial reporting team through driving continuous improvements to functional processes and systems
  • Responsible for management of key client relationships, working closely with client relationship managers and counterparts in other internal departments to ensure a seamless and coordinated service delivery by State Street.
  • Design processes to ensure operational readiness to address regulatory/process changes
  • Represent State Street to external parties as necessary
  • Define risk environment for business unit and ensure appropriate action is initiated and executed to minimize risk
  • Set individual and team targets and priorities; maintain high standards of client service; conduct performance appraisals and give feedback on individual and team performance through the performance review process
  • Promote a collaborative cross-business and jurisdiction environment that fosters change and innovation
  • Execute oversight activities to ensure interdepartmental deliveries are monitored and risks are addressed
  • Deliver highly valued services and solutions to clients to ensure quality services are consistently delivered and clients are offered State Street’s full range of services as their needs and our services evolve
  • Ensure BCP plans are valid and tested periodically
  • Ensure self and team anticipates, monitors, actively manages and reports all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities
  • Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model Ethical behavior and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation
  • Perform other duties as required

Core Competencies

  • A proven track record at a senior level in asset management with over 15 years' of leadership experience within operations
  • Navigate a large, global organization. Build meaningful relationships and develop an effective network
  • Able to process feedback and develop meaningful actions to resolve identified challenges along reasonable timescales
  • Solid technical knowledge of accounting, reporting and fund services. Deep experience interfacing at a senior level with clients across product segments, market trends, third party managers and regulators
  • Work successfully in a matrixed environment. Effectively manage multiple stakeholders, determine highest priorities for the organization, identify and resolve contention between directives
  • Proven leadership skills as well as managing and developing a high performing teams
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, with an ability to think strategically, manage complexity, significant change and multiple key priorities
  • Excellent time management, presentation skills and communication to multiple levels (clients, other 3rd parties, executives, peers, subordinates). Flexibility across multiple communication formats
  • Proven track record of achieving/exceeding financial goals through expense discipline and headcount management
  • Experience with change management programs in sponsorship, leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to execute under challenging circumstances and deliver targeted outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and influence colleagues and virtual team members
  • Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to connect with colleagues globally in a collaborative, open work environment. To serve as a role model of acceptance and flexibility in dealing with colleagues with varying backgrounds.
  • Willingness for regular business travel

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a degree in finance, business / accounting, ideally a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA).
  • Fourteen or more years of leadership experience, preferably in the financial services organization.
  • Detailed understanding of Asset servicing operations
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships, both within the company and externally.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop business relationships with various levels of management within and outside of the company.
  • Strong problem resolution and analytical skills.
  • Ability to drive strategic change
  • Possess a good understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements of financial statement reporting including the application of core accounting standards to fund financial statement reporting (IFRS, Irish GAAP, US GAAP) and relevant regulation.
  • Strong team player who can thrive in a large complex global organization
