Role Overview

This Full Stack Senior Web Software Engineer role offers the opportunity to design, build and modernise TP ICAP's corporate web platforms at enterprise scale, leveraging AI-assisted development tools and an AI-driven delivery lifecycle (AIDLC) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality. You will be hands-on across the full stack — building and maintaining custom CMS modules, managing infrastructure across a large multi-site estate, delivering front-end components, integrations and end-to-end release pipelines. The role requires close collaboration with designers, developers, business stakeholders and the Digital Platform Owner, and carries responsibility for system performance, security best practices and platform reliability. Experience with enterprise CMS platforms (Drupal) and managed hosting environments (Acquia) is a strong advantage; equally, we welcome strong engineers with solid CMS related back-end, front-end and DevOps foundations who are ready to work at the cutting edge of AI-driven software delivery.

Role Responsibilities

Web Platform Stewardship & Maintenance

• Maintain and improve CMS-led corporate websites, including Drupal-based platforms and related web applications.
• Support routine platform, module/plugin, package and dependency updates across the web estate.
• Review platform health reports, security advisories, deprecated code and technical debt, and turn findings into a prioritised maintenance backlog.
• Assess compatibility of modules, plugins, components and integrations, applying patches or fixes where appropriate and coordinating testing before production releases.
• Maintain strong configuration management, release discipline and rollback awareness across DEV, TEST and LIVE environments.

Platform Modernisation & Delivery

• Support hosting, environment and platform optimisation activities across corporate websites, including readiness for future hosting or architecture changes where required.
• Contribute to technical planning, data/configuration transfer, environment setup, DNS/SSL activities, validation and post-change support for platform or hosting-related work.
• Help reduce dependency on legacy page-building approaches by assessing components, templates and theming patterns that can be simplified, rebuilt or modernised.
• Support API-driven or decoupled web patterns, including CMS content APIs and front-end integration with technologies such as Next.js where required.
• Document migration decisions, risks, test outcomes and operational handover notes.

Web Development & CMS Site Building

• Develop, configure and maintain CMS-led websites, content models, page components, navigation, permissions and editorial workflows.
• Create and maintain custom functionality using PHP, CMS APIs, hooks/events, plugins, services or equivalent framework patterns.
• Implement responsive themes and front-end components using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and relevant templating systems.
• Integrate with third-party APIs and internal systems, including regulatory, analytics, marketing and video/embed services.
• Support content governance, editorial workflows, accessibility and user access models across corporate websites.

Quality, Testing & Tooling

• Use BrowserStack to test pages and components across browsers, devices and responsive breakpoints.
• Conduct unit, integration, regression and functional testing before releases.
• Work from Figma designs and translate approved layouts into accessible, responsive web themes, templates and components.
• Support OneTrust cookie policy and cookie-category updates when new tools, scripts or tracking technologies are introduced.
• Debug issues across environments using appropriate PHP, CMS, browser and application debugging tools.

DevOps, Security & Performance

• Use Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines and Composer-based release processes.
• Work with cloud or managed hosting providers such as Acquia, Pantheon, AWS-backed models or comparable enterprise hosting environments.
• Support CDN, WAF, caching, performance tuning, logging and monitoring requirements.
• Apply secure coding practices and coordinate vulnerability remediation for platforms, applications and dependent packages.
• Document deployment guides, runbooks and operational processes for ongoing platform health.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on web engineering experience across CMS development, backend development, theming, configuration management and platform maintenance.
• Experience with enterprise multisite Drupal platforms, including configuration management at scale, multi-environment workflows (Acquia Cloud Site Factory experience a strong advantage)
• Experience planning and executing Drupal major version upgrades, visual layout/component systems and regression testing across complex site estates (Site Studio / Acquia Cohesion familiarity a plus)
• Comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., AI code assistants – Kiro, Claude, Codex, LLM-based agents) and willing to learn prompt engineering techniques to improve their effectiveness.
• Strong PHP, OOP, Composer and dependency-management experience.
• Good knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and modern templating approaches.
• Experience developing or maintaining custom CMS functionality, integrations or reusable components.
• Experience with MySQL or equivalent database, and common CMS content/data concepts.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker or similar modern DevOps workflows.
• Familiarity with managed hosting platforms such as Acquia, Pantheon, AWS or comparable enterprise hosting environments.
• Experience with CDN, WAF, caching layers, performance tuning and application monitoring.
• Experience with migration projects, including content, database, configuration, hosting or platform migration.
• Working knowledge of Figma, BrowserStack and OneTrust in a web delivery context.

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with product owners, BAs, designers, developers, infrastructure and security teams.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Comfortable taking ownership of platform health, recurring maintenance and upgrade planning.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and flag risks early.

Desirable Experience / Competences

• Drupal, Acquia, PHP, cloud, accessibility or security certifications are a plus.
• Experience with multi-site, multilingual or enterprise-grade CMS platforms.
• Exposure to headless/decoupled CMS patterns, JSON:API, REST, GraphQL or Next.js integrations.
• Experience working with enterprise hosting platforms and operationally mature web environments.
• Understanding of cookie governance, consent tooling, analytics tagging and SEO migration considerations.
• Experience supporting regulated or corporate websites with governance, security and accessibility requirements.
