Production Supervisor

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- During the daily 9-hour shift, supervise all aspects of production, ensuring appropriate Health and Safety controls and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Manage efficiencies, monitor quality, and minimize production costs
- Troubleshoot problems and proactively prevent or minimize issues
- Provide timely coaching, feedback, and support to team leaders and production workers in a constructive and respectful manner
- Train, coach, develop, and evaluate the performance of production staff
- Liaise extensively on the production floor in order to build commitment and foster open communication between all parties
- Supervise and train crews, including planning manpower and work organization, and managing absenteeism and conflict.
- Participate and lead others through the Root Cause analysis process
- Administer appropriate coaching, provide leadership guidance, and continually develop employees in accordance with the needs of the department.
- Implement a continuous improvement philosophy in all areas of operation.
- Participate in JHSC initiatives and follow established policies as outlined in the Health and Safety policies.
- Supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all Quality Systems.
- Assist with production requirements and perform other relevant duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, co-workers, and Managers.
- Strong verbal and written as well as effective communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor, and resolve employee conflict.
- Ability to accurately maintain detailed records.
- Strong safety focus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have 3+ years of leadership or Supervisory experience.
- Have 2+ years of experience in the food industry.
- Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possession of a Diploma or post-secondary education
- Reasonable mechanical aptitude
- Intermediate Computer Skills in Microsoft Office (such as Word, excel, outlook, charting, and graphing).
- Able and willing to work weekend OT when required
- Ability to assess and prioritize
- Ability to manage change and to react quickly to rapid turn-around requirements
- Desire for continuous improvement individually and for the overall business
