Overview

As a Workout Credit Officer – Vice President , you will be a key member of Deutsche Bank’s Lending franchise, focusing on credit risk management for underperforming or distressed clients. You will work in close collaboration with Workout colleagues to analyze transactions from underperforming clients or in distressed situations. You will also manage a diversified portfolio and participate in regulatory audits. The role involves analyzing complex transactions, leading workout strategies, and ensuring compliance with credit policies and regulations

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee a diversified portfolio of distressed assets, focused on commercial real estate, high-yield structures and leveraged loans and conduct detailed credit evaluations, monitor borrower financials.
  • Design and implement strategies to mitigate risk and maximize recovery, including debt restructuring, insolvency proceedings, and Chapter 11 exit financing
  • Support internal and external audits, ensure policy adherence, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Work with risk management, legal, and deal teams to execute workout plans and present findings to senior management
  • Guide junior credit officers on transaction workflows, policy compliance, and regulatory changes
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on portfolio performance and risk exposure

How You’ll Lead

  • Lead professional transactions, collaborating with the deal team and your colleagues in the Workout team, and other stakeholders
  • Provide training and guidance to junior credit officers particularly with respect to transactions workflow as well as policy and regulatory adherence
  • You will lead projects to improve the credit process or to adapt the portfolio to regulatory changes

Skills You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Moderate experience credit analysis, underwriting, or related financial industry roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and negotiation skills, in-depth knowledge of loan origination and workout processes
  • Experience in commercial real estate, or similar distressed asset class is highly valued
  • Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimize workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $120,000 to $205,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
