Title: Labor Foreman

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under supervision, is in charge of an assigned area within a district and is responsible for directing a crew of Laborers and other assigned workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of park and boulevard lawn areas. Performs related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Directs the cleaning and maintenance of parks, boulevards, athletic fields, concerts, picnic and special event areas, playgrounds, beaches, lagoons, in an assigned area within a district.
Directs and assigns duties and activities to Laborers and other workers.
Assigns and is responsible for tools, materials, supplies, both hand and powered equipment provided for maintenance purposes.
In winter months, plows snow, spreads salt and directs the performance of such work by Laborers and other assigned workers.
Operates any mechanical or power-driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience: At least two years of experience performing manual labor work, one year of which should be in a supervisory capacity.

License Requirement: Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public.

Rate of Pay: $77,811.41 Annually
