About The Role
Job Summary
To ensure that the risks accepted fall within the Company’s specified guidelines, which will impact the loss ratio [i.e., premium income versus claims and expenses paid]
Primary Responsibilities
- Provisionals/Renewals:
- Provisionals: review policies and premia due for renewal and set terms before sending to Policy Owners, Binder Holders and Agencies.
- New Business and Renewals processed by Binder Holders and Agencies: Review all assigned work by following the Procedure to ensure all supporting documents are received and pursue all outstanding ones as outlined.
- Clients Queries:
- Correspondence: check for completion & accuracy. Policy files with amendments must be processed. All others should either be placed for typing, mailing or filing.
- Telephone Queries and Requests: accept Binder Holders and Agencies renewal instructions, analyze queries, check, refer [where necessary] and reply.
- Fidelity Finance/Bank Letters :
- Checking of Premium Financing Agreements and Bank Letters
- Signing of Documents:
Secondary Responsibilities
- Bordereaux:
- Review Bordereaux [report of business placed thru Agencies, Binder Holders & Brokers] submissions & requests and memo for outstanding documents
- Review Bordereaux submissions and the quality of the risk taken: check documents submitted for proper completion and premium calculations
- Billings : accurately process the billings for Motor Policies and Bonds:
- Create Invoice: check client data base - copy for existing client or create if new client; create address – new/additional as required; create & enter appropriate code – Mortgagee, Underwriter, Additional Client, Additional Details, Group and Line of business
- Process Work Record: enter period of insurance; premium & sum insured; peril and reinsurance breakdowns; issue processed invoice and endorsements; co-ordinate issued work sheets & endorsements; distribute files
- Assist with special exercises and reports organized by the Unit and all other related and delegated duties.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum 5 CSEC passes inclusive of Grade 1 or 2 in Mathematics and English A and
- 6 CAPE passes (full certificate) or an equivalent diploma or professional certificate
- Degree in related field would be an asset
Experience
- Three (3) years experience in general insurance.
