  • Pharmacist who works closely with other pharmacy staff to receive prescription orders and oversee prescription refills.

  • Fill prescriptions and review prescriptions filled by Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Provide drug informat io n and patient counseling as required by law.
  • Maintain med ic ation invoices, including controlled substance invoices.
  • Perform inventor ies requ ired by law .
  • Prov ide guidance and counseling to support personnel.
  • Maintain good relationship with clinic management and clinical staff.
  • Interpret medicat ion orders/prescriptions and review pat i ent's medication profile for drug-drug in teract io ns, appropriate dosing, and allerg i es.
  • Maintain proper med i cat ion storage conditions and maintain temperature l ogs as required .
  • Understand prescription bill in g requirements for different payors, including commercial, Med ic aid, and Medicare-D
  • Provide oversight of medication distribution to remote clinic locat i ons.
  • Demons t rate and promote excellent customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy; Pharm.D. preferred
  • Holds an active license from the Texas Board of Pharma cy; li cense is in good standing.

Experience

  • M i nimum of two years of pharmacist practice in re tail , ambulatory, or hosp ita l outpatient settings.

Work Schedule

  • Monday thr ough Friday schedule; hours t o coincide with clinic schedule.
  • Position is located within Helen Farabee
  • Available on weekends for emergency telephone consultation.

Skills/Competencies

  • Exce llent written and oral communication skills to communica te with prescribers and patients.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of m edicat i on use and disease m an agement.
  • Demonstrates compute r skills nec essary to manage prescription dispensing. ​Understand quality control procedures and confidentiality requ irements.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel software.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage personnel.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Pharmacists should have a degree of physical stamina as they might need to stand for longer periods of their shift when helping customers with filing prescriptions. Regularly operates a computer, mouse, keyboard, and occasionally operates other standard office equipment, such as printer, copier, phone.
