Intern, PR & Communications

About The Role
AirAsia MOVE is hiring! We are looking for a PR & Communications Intern to join our Regional PR team in Kuala Lumpur. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Partnerships, Marketing, and Social Media, to drive impactful communications in Malaysia and across the region.
Job Description
- Content & Media Relations: Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, social media captions and PR materials while maintaining up-to-date media lists, contact databases, and relationship logs with journalists and influencers.
- Coverage & Trend Monitoring: Track daily media coverage, compile detailed PR reports, and conduct research on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging media outlets.
- Events & Campaign Support: Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing press events, media visits, conferences, interviews, and regional PR campaigns.
- Administrative & Operational Support: Manage general admin tasks for the PR team, including scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, tracking invoices/budgets, and archiving media assets.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (Marketing, Social Media, Partnerships) to ensure consistent messaging, assist with crisis/reputation management, and identify social media engagement opportunities.
Required Skills
- Communication & Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Written proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin is highly advantageous to support translations and regional media liaison.
- Organisation & Administration: Exceptional time-management abilities, strong attention to detail, and a structured approach to admin tasks and record-keeping.
- Problem Solving & Creativity: Creative thinking with a practical approach to troubleshooting and execution.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with key social media platforms and monitoring tools.
- Teamwork & Initiative: Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (coursework or prior internship experience in PR is preferred).
- Able to commit to a minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexibility for on-site or hybrid working based on business needs.
- Highly proactive, eager to learn and grow within the PR industry, and capable of prioritising tasks to hit tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
