About The Role
- Responsible for safety as well as that of the crew.
- Attends and participates in all pre-tour, post tour, and weekly safety meetings.
- Demonstrates and promotes Safety Leadership for team members.
- Inspects and trains crane crew to inspect safety apparatus and equipment.
- Understands and adheres to correct lock-out, tag-out procedures.
- Ensures all lifts are within load limits of equipment and are correctly rigged, and lifting gear is properly color coded prior to use.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new Roustabouts regarding helicopter safety, high noise area safety, appliance use, lifeboat assignment, general alarm, etc.
- Assists in organizing, planning, and monitoring the work of the crane crew.
- Oversees the inspection of slings, cables, straps and the crane structure prior to lifting operations.
- Oversees preventive maintenance as required to ensure safe and continual service of the cranes.
- Assists in corporate and regulatory body inspections.
- Maintains up to date crane record books.
- Monitors sea and weather conditions for safe loading and unloading.
Qualifications/Experience
- High School diploma
- Two (2) or more years as a certified Crane Operator with prior offshore experience preferred.
