What will you do?
The IT Operations Engineer role is primarily responsible for application patching and vulnerability remediation. Ensuring remediations are planned, prioritized, communicated and executed effectively. This resource owns and directly executes vulnerability remediation.
This role will also manage version upgrade testing and is responsible for administration and support of various technical engineering applications.
We know the work we do is vital in assisting Aurecon's business globally. Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’.
- Plan, manage and execute application remediation activities
- Ensure clear prioritisation based on risk, exploitability, age of vulnerabilities, and business impact
- Ensure timely deployment of patches and vulnerability mediation across environments
- Track and report full vulnerability lifecycle (identification → remediation → validation → closure)
- Validate fixes and capture remediation evidence to meet audit and security requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patching and vulnerability remediation
- Engage with Application Owners, Security and Infrastructure teams.
- Drive agreement on remediation approach, timelines, and outage planning
- Identify opportunities for standardisation and use automation where available to perform remediation tasks
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling for patch deployment and remediation workflows
- Produce regular reporting on patch compliance, vulnerability posture, and remediation progress
You will also need the following capabilities
Qualifications (Required)
- With at least 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Experience managing and administering 3rd party Windows Desktop and Windows Server applications, including application configuration, maintenance, user provisioning, license management and troubleshooting.
- Experience administering Azure-based infrastructure and services.
- Practical knowledge and experience performing application remediation and vulnerability management.
- Fundamental knowledge of various server and infrastructure technologies, including Windows Server environments, cloud platforms, networking concepts, and storage management.
Desirable
- Experience supporting Engineering Applications
- Familiarity with application lifecycle management, including upgrades and decommissioning activities.
- Experience implementing and configuring SSO for 3rd party applications using Entra ID
- Experience with InTune
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate
- Background in IT Service Management (ITSM) and Agile Methodology
