People Business Partner
The People Business Partner, APAC partners with Leaders of Leaders, VPs and their leadership teams across multiple APAC countries to translate business priorities into effective people strategies. This role operates as a trusted advisor and sparring partner with significant autonomy, working in functional pods with Regional and Global Business Partners and in close collaboration with our COEs. Through high-quality consulting, coaching, employee relations leadership and talent calibration, this role directly enables Pax8 to scale a high-performing, engaged and compliant APAC workforce in service of our growth strategy.

Working arrangement At Pax8 APAC

- During your first 6 months, you'll be based in our Manila office to immerse yourself in the team, the culture, and your role.
- After 6 months, you'll be eligible to request a hybrid arrangement of up to 2 days working from home each week, tailored to your role and team rhythm.

What you’ll be doing
Business Partnering, Consult and Advise — A substantial portion of the role is spent collaborating with Leaders of Leaders, VPs and their leadership teams across APAC to understand organisational objectives, challenges and opportunities, and developing effective people strategies that support business goals — making use of People products, services and programs. Represents the needs and interests of the teams they partner with at strategic People meetings to help steer the People agenda. Consults, coaches and develops leader capability in line with Pax8 Leadership Competencies to solve interpersonal challenges, navigate conflict, address performance concerns and provide solutions related to workforce, talent and organisational matters.
Employee Relations & Compliance — Handles employee relations enquiries, issues and investigations end-to-end, advising leaders on how to resolve issues through mediation or other techniques, in line with local process. Holds solid knowledge of compliance and employment law across APAC countries in scope; actively reduces corporate legal risk by ensuring people decisions are sound, escalating to legal partners where appropriate.
Performance Management Enablement — Enables performance management processes through the upskilling and advising of people leaders, including annual reviews, probation, and performance improvement / development plans.
Hiring, Onboarding & Workforce Planning — Ensures a consistent, high-quality role requisition and onboarding experience across APAC. Coaches leaders on creating effective job descriptions aligned with Pax8 job architecture and competency frameworks, participates in interviews, and guides hiring managers through the 30-60-90 onboarding plan. Supports onboarding and offboarding in region. Partners with leaders on basic workforce and succession planning using People team frameworks.
Talent Calibration — Participates in the delivery of annual Talent Talks across the APAC region; may operate as a certified Talent Talk facilitator to drive evidence-based, development-driven conversations about talent with leaders.
Wellbeing & Absence — Supports leaders in managing absence, identifying and analysing trends, and recommending courses of action. Conducts effective well-being conversations with employees across APAC.
Engagement & Listening — In partnership with People team COEs and leaders, undertakes and initiates colleague listening initiatives, including engagement surveys and new-hire roundtables, reviewing output data and reporting back with recommendations for improvement.
Change Support — In times of change, understands the impact of change activities and provides support to individuals and leaders as required, listening and sharing feedback upwards.
What you’ll bring
Substantial experience leading HR business partnering for senior leaders (LoLs / VPs), including experience beyond core People Operations (e.g. wider HR business partnering, talent, ER, organisational design or change management) in an agile, fast-paced environment (typically 5–8 years HR experience).
Significant experience in a consulting / advisory role to business leaders, with demonstrated ability to influence at LoL / VP level.
Reasonable experience with contract writing, foundational policies, HRIS administration and process improvement.
Significant experience handling employee relations issues end-to-end across one or more APAC jurisdictions, including absence management, probation reviews and performance improvement plans.
Compliance & Employment Law : solid knowledge of compliance requirements and employment law across APAC countries in scope; able to reduce corporate legal risk by ensuring people decisions are sound and escalating appropriately.
Stakeholder Management : uses stakeholder awareness to proactively resolve or mitigate conflicting requirements of groups, improving solution quality and people / business outcomes within an APAC regional context.
Basic coaching : ability to effectively coach and influence key stakeholders in HR practice, able to address situational challenges and help coachees navigate specific issues or obstacles.
Data literacy : the ability to read, understand, create and communicate data as information.
Active listening : ability to fully engage in listening to truly understand the message being conveyed, deferring judgement or response until the speaker has finished.
Talent Management : ability to support leaders with understanding and proactively managing talent in their teams, balancing individual needs, skills and aspirations with the needs of function and business. Able to recommend People products and services to support talent management needs.
Performance Management : ability to support leaders with informal and formal performance management practices from setting expectations and regular 1:1s through to measuring performance, corrective conversations and performance improvement plans.
Delivers effective feedback : communicating constructive, clear and actionable insights in a timely manner to peers or leaders so corrective action can be taken to prevent or resolve a conflict.
Pax8 Leadership Fluency : understands Pax8 leadership expectations at various levels. Uses this to tailor advice and guidance, identify skills gaps and signpost to established learning solutions.
Cultural Competence : ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people from different cultures and backgrounds across APAC countries.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (and other relevant languages depending on the APAC markets supported).
Proficiency with core Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
In order to fulfil this role, you should be resident in an APAC country in scope with a valid right to work.

Senior leaders (LoLs / VPs) across APAC consistently engage the People Business Partner early on people-impacting decisions, treating them as a trusted advisor and sparring partner.
Employee relations matters are resolved with sound judgement, in line with local employment law, and corporate legal risk across APAC is actively managed and reduced.
Annual Talent Talks are delivered effectively across the APAC region, supporting evidence-based, development-driven conversations about talent with leaders.
Engagement and wellbeing data is tracked, analysed and translated into actionable recommendations that land with leaders and influence the People agenda.
The COE model and People Renovation operating principles are well-understood and well-used across APAC client groups, with the People Business Partner acting as a connection point between business needs and COE solutions.

Education & Certifications
- B.A. / B.S. in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor's-level HR qualification — e.g. CIPD Level 5 (or APAC equivalent). Working towards or has attained a post-graduate HR qualification (e.g. CIPD Level 7) is desirable.
- May be (or can become) a certified Pax8 Talent Talk facilitator.
