Postdoctoral Research Fellow: AI, XR, & Human-Centric Simulation

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead innovative projects at the intersection of Modern AI , Computer Graphics , and VR/AR/XRd Human-Computer Interaction . This role focuses on utilizing VR/AR as a medium for behavioral transformation—specifically in high-fidelity motor skill acquisition and the enhancement of social communication.

Primary Research Projects

The successful candidate will contribute to and lead research in the following areas related to our current and past projects https://gxrlab.rf.gd/research/ :

  • Intelligent Motor Skill Learning: Developing AI-driven, physics-based simulations in VR/AR to facilitate the acquisition of complex physical tasks. This includes real-time feedback loops, biomechanical modeling, and adaptive training environments.
  • Social & Soft Skill Enhancement: Designing immersive social settings that leverage AI to improve interpersonal communication. Projects focus on creating responsive virtual agents and evaluative frameworks for social interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Development: Integrate Physics-Informed Neural Networks or Reinforcement Learning to create realistic human movement and interactive social behaviors within XR.
  • Instructional Leadership: Assist in teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality . This includes helping instructions, designing lab assignments, and mentoring students on technical projects.
  • System Design: Build and maintain immersive prototypes that combine real-time physics with modern AI models to support learning and communication.
  • Academic Leadership: Lead the submission of research to high-impact venues such as SIGGRAPH , IEEE VR , and CHI .
  • Student Mentorship: Co-supervise Ph.D. and undergraduate researchers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive laboratory environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, HCI, or a related field.
