About The Role
Join a team dedicated to ensuring the safety, environmental compliance, and certification of Canada's future River-class Destroyer fleet. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, Product Safety , you will work with internal and external stakeholders to support the execution of the Product Safety and Environmental Program across one of Canada's most advanced naval shipbuilding projects.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to warship design and complex systems, including propulsion, sensors, weapons, and combat systems, while developing expertise in Systems Engineering disciplines such as Verification & Validation, Human Systems Integration, Supportability, and Survivability.
- Support the execution of the Product Safety and Environmental Program.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety analyses.
- Coordinate and support Product Safety and Environmental meetings.
- Review vendor documentation and technical deliverables for compliance.
- Assess engineering changes and identify potential safety, environmental, and project impacts.
- Monitor evolving safety and environmental legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote a strong safety culture and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to review technical information and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent organizational, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Interest in safety engineering, systems engineering, risk management, or environmental compliance.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
