The Impact you will have in this role
Being a member of IT CSS Equities Delivery team, the Lead Software Development Test Engineer will be responsible for leading and developing test plans and implementing those plans against the corresponding test procedures. They should also be accountable for the development of automation scripts in Selenium java and writing SQL queries.
- Safeguard a global post-trade platform — Your test automation will directly protect the reliability of a system used daily by investment managers, broker/dealers, and custodian banks worldwide, where a single defect can carry real financial and regulatory consequences.
- Raise the quality bar across the SDLC — You will embed quality earlier and deeper into delivery, shifting testing left and enabling faster, more confident releases without compromising stability.
- Accelerate delivery through AI-augmented testing — By leveraging AI for test generation, self-healing UI locators, and reusable automation assets, you'll reduce manual test effort, shorten regression cycles, and free the team to focus on higher-value work.
- De-risk a major platform modernization — Your validation of Oracle-to-PostgreSQL database migrations will ensure data integrity and functional parity as the platform modernizes, protecting the business from migration-related regressions.
- Elevate the engineering team — Through technical leadership and mentorship, you'll uplift the QA engineering team's skills, establish automation best practices, and create a durable culture of quality ownership.
- Enable full-stack confidence — By driving coverage across UI, API, database, and integration layers of a multi-service containerized architecture, you'll give stakeholders end-to-end assurance that the platform behaves correctly at every tier.
Your Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and execution of scalable test automation solutions for mission-critical financial market applications, ensuring high quality, reliability, and operational resilience.
- Drive automation strategy across UI, API, database, and integration testing domains while leveraging AI-enabled testing practices to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to QA engineers, promoting engineering excellence, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support cloud modernization, database migration initiatives, and delivery of high-quality software across distributed, containerized environments.
- Champion innovation through adoption of advanced automation frameworks, self-healing technologies, and data-driven quality engineering methodologies.

Qualifications
- Min 6 yrs of relevant experience
- Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or technical field and/or equivalent experience.
Talents Needed for Success
- 7+ years of hands-on test automation engineering , ideally within complex, large-scale enterprise or financial platforms.
- Deep expertise in keyword-driven / data-driven automation frameworks , including designing, extending, and maintaining reusable framework components.
- Strong programming skills in a language such as Python, Java, or C# for building robust, maintainable automation.
- Proven experience automating across multiple layers — UI, REST/SOAP API, database, and end-to-end integration testing.
- Solid database and SQL proficiency , with practical experience validating data across relational systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and testing data migrations.
- Working knowledge of containerized, microservices architectures (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes) and testing in distributed, multi-service environments.
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab) for continuous testing.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools for test generation, self-healing locators, or intelligent test maintenance is a strong plus.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring QA engineers and setting technical direction for a testing practice.
- Capital markets, post-trade, or broader financial services domain experience is highly desirable.

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
