About The Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you'll be preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, helping to ensure that our projects are financially sound and meet client expectations. You'll need to be comfortable with estimating software, have a background in the construction industry, and possess strong communication skills to work well with both clients and project teams. As a key member of our team, you'll contribute to developing project budgets, analyzing material costs, interpreting blueprints, and using construction management tools to provide precise estimates that support successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates for commercial projects using HeavyBid and spreadsheets.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to accurately assess project scope.
- Estimate material costs and labor requirements to develop comprehensive project budgets.
- Utilize construction management software to track project costs and update estimates as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients to clarify project requirements, provide updates, and address questions related to estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing information and ensure accurate budgeting.
- Analyze bid proposals and negotiate costs to optimize project profitability while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain organized records of all estimation documents, revisions, and correspondence for future reference.
- Stay current with industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new estimating tools or techniques to improve accuracy.
- Proven experience in estimating for commercial construction projects within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in HeavyBid and construction management software is essential.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for creating detailed spreadsheets.
- Ability to accurately estimate material costs and develop comprehensive project budgets.
- Effective client communication skills with the ability to present estimates clearly and professionally.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Knowledge of current market prices for materials and labor in the construction sector is preferred.
- A relevant degree or certification in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
