About The Role
Why This Role Matters
The Principal Specialist, BU Data Domain serves as the accountable owner of a Business Unit's data domain, ensuring that data is trusted, governed, consistent, and aligned with both operational requirements and enterprise standards. The role enables accurate decision-making, meaningful performance measurement, and scalable analytics by establishing clear ownership of domain data, KPIs, and business definitions.
By strengthening governance, data quality, and semantic consistency across the domain, the role ensures that business-critical data products can be confidently used across reporting, operational management, analytics, and AI-driven initiatives. The position acts as the bridge between business operations and enterprise data capabilities, translating business needs into structured and reusable data assets.
The role also drives enterprise alignment by representing the Business Unit in governance forums, influencing cross-domain standards, and ensuring local business requirements are integrated into Ma’aden’s broader data and digital strategy without compromising consistency or control.
What You Will Deliver
Domain Ownership & Data Integrity
- Establish clear ownership and accountability for domain data, business definitions, and performance metrics.
- Strengthen the quality, consistency, and fitness-for-purpose of domain data across business processes and systems.
- Ensure domain data accurately reflects operational realities, business requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Data Products & Business Value
- Enable the development of trusted and reusable data products that support operational excellence, analytics, and AI use cases.
- Translate Business Unit requirements into scalable data solutions that deliver measurable business value.
- Improve access to reliable data that supports decision-making, performance management, and business planning.
Governance & Standards Alignment
- Drive adoption of enterprise data governance standards while ensuring relevance to Business Unit needs.
- Align domain practices with enterprise architecture, data policies, and cross-domain governance requirements.
- Strengthen consistency of data definitions, KPIs, and reporting frameworks across the organization.
Stakeholder Leadership & Business Engagement
- Serve as the primary data representative for the Business Unit on strategic data matters.
- Influence business and technical stakeholders to achieve alignment on data priorities, standards, and outcomes.
- Facilitate data-driven decision-making through clear communication and governance leadership.
Data Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Improve data quality performance through proactive monitoring, issue resolution, and stewardship practices.
- Lead initiatives that enhance data reliability, usability, and business confidence.
- Drive continuous improvement of domain governance, data management practices, and value realization.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree or equivalent domain expertise is advantageous.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience within a Business Unit domain, data management, analytics, or enterprise information management environments.
- Experience owning domain definitions, KPI frameworks, and data quality outcomes.
- Proven experience working across business and technology functions to establish governance and data management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority.
