About The Role

Our purpose is to help students deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, to qualify for the blessings of the temple, to prepare for missionary and Church service, and to build the kingdom of God.

The main responsibilities of the successful applicant will be to listen attentively to students’ concerns and provide support and counsel to them. Help students deal with personal, behavioural & social challenges. The successful candidate will be responsible to actively identify students who need added help in school and advocate for them to remove barriers to learning. Furthermore, the successful candidate will help students develop clear spiritual, educational occupational plans (SSEOP), and assist students to work towards and accomplish their goals.

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent education and experience; An ITEP counselling certificate would be advantageous
  • Has demonstrated understanding of counselling concepts, skills and techniques
  • Has substantial years of counselling experience
  • At least five years of relevant teaching or related experience
  • Ability to connect to the youth
  • Effectively participates in the school leadership team and in a Professional Learning Community; Understands confidentiality and importance of keeping administration appraised as ethically appropriate
  • Fluent in both English and Tongan (verbal and written)
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills. Experience in using student management software would be advantageous
  • Maintains temple worthiness standards
  • Police Clearance Report is required
