About The Role

The Icahn School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding Associate Researcher I to join the Pereira Laboratory, which studies the neurobiology of Alzheimer's disease using postmortem human tissue and biochemical and analytical techniques. The successful candidate will contribute to tissue processing, sample preparation, and downstream analysis in support of ongoing research into disease mechanisms. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a project bridging tissue biochemistry, protein biology, and quantitative analytical techniques.

  • Process and prepare human postmortem tissue for downstream biochemical analysis
  • Perform subcellular fractionation and isolation procedures
  • Conduct protein aggregation and seeding assays
  • Coordinate sample preparation and shipment for outside analytical services
  • Perform flow cytometry and analyze resulting data
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to data analysis and interpretation
  • Performs other related duties
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in science or neuroscience, cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • No experience required. One year of research experience preferred.
  • Highly Preferred Technical Experience: cell culture and general biochemistry laboratory techniques.
  • Preferred experience includes subcellular fractionation, flow cytometry, and iPSC or stem cell culture.
  • Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to work independently once trained, and comfortable working with human postmortem tissue
