About The Role
As a Lead Principal Software Developer for OCI Build, you will be a senior technical leader shaping the architecture, design, and long-term evolution of a critical OCI developer infrastructure platform. You will lead complex system and component designs, guide senior engineers, drive cross-group technical initiatives, and anticipate future needs across scale, reliability, security, and developer productivity. You will also influence technical strategy across organizational boundaries and communicate key architectural decisions, risks, and investment priorities to senior and executive leadership.
OCI Build is a critical developer infrastructure platform that enables OCI engineering teams to securely and reliably turn source code into deployable artifacts at cloud scale.
As a Lead Principal Software Developer , you will be a senior technical leader for OCI Build, shaping its architecture and long-term technical strategy while solving complex problems across distributed systems, build infrastructure, reliability, security, and developer productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision, architecture, and multi-year evolution of OCI Build and its execution platform.
- Architect and design scalable, secure, highly available systems that support OCI's growing build and software-delivery needs.
- Lead complex technical initiatives spanning build orchestration, Kubernetes and compute execution, artifact management, CI/CD, security, and software supply chain.
- Provide technical leadership for engineering and component designs , reviewing critical architectural decisions and guiding teams toward simple, durable solutions.
- Anticipate future scale, security, reliability, and developer-experience challenges and translate them into technical investments and platform strategy.
- Influence architecture and technical direction across teams and organizational boundaries , partnering with senior engineers and leaders throughout OCI.
- Mentor and guide senior engineers, helping them strengthen system design, technical judgment, and ownership of complex systems.
- Raise engineering standards across design, code quality, testing, observability, operational readiness, and security.
- Lead investigation of the most difficult production, scalability, and architectural problems and drive systemic solutions.
- Communicate complex technical strategy, trade-offs, risks, and investment recommendations clearly to senior and executive leadership .
What We're Looking For
- Deep experience architecting and operating large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong software engineering and system-design expertise with demonstrated ownership of technically complex, business-critical systems.
- Ability to set technical direction across multiple teams while remaining close enough to the technology to guide critical design decisions.
- Strong judgment across scalability, reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and elevate the technical capability of an organization.
- Proven effectiveness influencing across organizational boundaries and communicating technical strategy to senior leadership.
- Experience in CI/CD, build systems, Kubernetes, compute infrastructure, developer platforms, or software supply-chain security is valuable, but expertise in every area is not required.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $306,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
