About The Role
QA/QC Inspectors will test, sample and inspect raw materials, fabricated, machined, assembled structures, and industrial processes for quality, deviations, or defects according to specifications. This position will be inspecting welds and welding processes.
Qualification Highlights
- Must have a current Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) Certificate
- Must have 3+ years’ experience working as a welding inspector.
- Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
- Must be able to work at heights in excess of 300 ft.
- Must have all required tools.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Position Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and specifications.
- Inspect, approve or reject welds according to specifications.
- Inspect raw materials.
- Provide information regarding processes and specifications to welders, supervisors and other appropriate members.
- Will test welders for qualifications.
- Will interact and coordinate efforts with contracted or internal weld x-ray teams.
Physical Requirements
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools with up to 70 ft-lbs. of pressure.
- May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, work off of platforms and man lifts, and may occasionally work out on an open structure using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must have good visual acuity and depth perception.
- Must be able to work outside in the changing weather conditions including in the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and leather work boots.
Required Qualifications
- Must have CWI certification.
- Must have 3+ years’ experiences as a CWI inspector.
- Must have extensive knowledge of multiple types of welding processes, and the materials used for each process.
- Must be a team player and have effective communication skill in dealing with co-workers and any other work-related contacts.
- Must have basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction.
- Must be able to use problem solving skills and critical thinking to resolve and identify issues, including safety risks.
- Must be willing to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Preferred Additional Qualification
- Current Zachry/JV employee
- Zachry/JV ROF’ed employee.
- AWS CWI
- API 510, 570, and/or 653
- ASNT Level II Certifications
- NACE Coating Inspector (preferred)
- TWIC Card
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial/JVIC.
- Experience working industrial construction projects.
