Job Description
The Digital Archive team at Nine is embarking on a true once-in-a-generation project to digitise and productise our unmatched content archive, representing 195 years of Australian broadcast media, film, and publishing. This is a unique opportunity to shape a lasting social and historical legacy for Australia.
As Content Operations Associate, you will be key to driving Nine's digitisation pipeline. In this versatile, hands-on role, you will oversee the physical and digital lifecycle of our media heritage-focusing primarily on broadcast tape and film archives, alongside secondary publishing collections. Working at the intersection of archival management and modern technology, you will ensure our legacy assets are modernised for future platform use and commercial discovery.
This is a 12-month contract.
What you’ll do
- Logging & Execution: Execute the end-to-end digitisation logging process, accurately matching physical legacy assets to their digital outputs.
- Quality Control: Perform technical QC and format verification on digitised broadcast video, audio, and publishing assets to meet delivery standards.
- Metadata & Indexing: Enrich and verify metadata at the point of ingestion, ensuring every asset is indexed correctly within our Media Asset Management (MAM) system.
- Vendor & Logistics Management: Partner with external digitisation vendors to coordinate content batches, manage physical pick-and-pack logistics, and maintain collection control integrity from archival vault to return.
- Asset Discovery & AI Readiness: Document and categorise historical assets across broadcasting and publishing divisions to help identify historical value and enable commercial AI productisation.
- Process & Efficiency: Monitor throughput metrics, document workflows, and recommend process improvements to transition digitisation projects into smooth Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in media operations, library science, or a digital archive environment (0-2 years' experience is ideal).
- A strong technical understanding of various media formats across broadcast (video/audio) and publishing (newsprint/photography).
- Exceptional attention to detail with a keen eye for technical flaws in digital video and images.
- Familiarity with metadata schemas and a high level of comfort navigating Digital Asset Management systems.
- A proactive, "one team" mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships with librarians, technical teams, and external partners.
