Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
The Lighting and Electrical Technician liaises with Lighting Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Project Managers, Technical Directors, CAD/BIM Managers, Design Managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to develop, coordinate, review, and deliver high quality lighting and electrical design documentation in accordance with project, client, and company requirements.
- Prepare and update lighting layouts, lighting calculations, and associated design drawings using AutoCAD.
- Produce detailed electrical drawings including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), cable routing layouts, earthing layouts, equipment layouts, cable trench layouts, and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
- Develop and maintain lighting and electrical design documentation in accordance with company, client, and industry drafting standards.
- Coordinate electrical and lighting designs drawings with other disciplines and services using CAD and project data platforms to support engineering projects.
- Prepare layouts, schematics, schedules, and design deliverables for lighting and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Revise and update engineering drawings from sketches, markups, design inputs, and engineer comments.
- Perform drawing quality checks to ensure compliance with drafting standards and project requirements.
- Assist engineers with the production of detailed design packages and construction documentation
- Support projects through accurate drafting, coordination and design development.

Functional
- Analyse client and project requirements for electrical and lighting design criteria, including Supply Authority project standards and drawing conventions.
- Prepare, amend and coordinate AutoCAD electrical and lighting drawings, layouts, schematics, schedules and design documentation.
- Review design inputs, mark-ups, specifications, constraints and risks to ensure drawings are accurate, compliant and coordinated
- Support quality control checks for AutoCAD deliverables, drawing registers, revisions and documentation updates. Deliver 2D AutoCAD drafting and, where required, 3D/BIM documentation to meet WSP and Client requirements.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable)
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Engineering Design Drafting, or a related discipline. Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Revit, MicroStation, Navisworks, or 3D/BIM workflows.
- Experience with Projectwise highly desirable.
- Experience in infrastructure projects.
- Experience producing lighting and/ or calculations and lighting compliance documentation.
- Working knowledge of lighting design software such as AGI32
- Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical and/or lighting drafting using AutoCAD Proficiency in AutoCAD and preparation of electrical design drawings, including lighting layouts, cable routing, SLDs, and details.
- Drafting experience in transport or road projects is essential.
- Desirable experience in understanding and creating AutoCAD dynamic blocks, blocks attributes, Autocad Lisps routines.
- Understanding of engineering drafting principles, drawing standards, and document control procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, mark-ups, specifications, and design calculations and convert them into detailed design drawings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Continual development of AutoCAD, drafting and digital engineering skills.
- Experienced in providing technical drafting expertise across electrical and lighting projects.
