Job Summary
ACI Mechanical is seeking a Safety Specialist/Assistant Project Manager to accept the responsibility of coordinating ACI's efforts to develop, implement and maintain a superior level of performance in the areas of safety, compliance, safety training and special projects assigned by the company. Safety coordination will be the primary focus of this position, with Assistant Project Manager duties to follow.
Safety Specialist duties
- Ensure that all current and future ACI employees receive proper orientation to those safety policies.
- Make recommendations as to when certain jobs should be inspected by the Consultation Division of IOSHA, then accompany the IOSHA consultant and the QC Inspector and/or jobsite superintendent on the consultation inspection
- Work directly with field employees noting their safety concerns and be prepared to share this information with ACI leadership
- Review, investigate, and recommend methods of improvement for on-the-job accidents
- Inspect all ACI vehicles, tools, equipment, etc., and if problems exist that could lead to an unsafe situation, bring the results of that inspection to the attention of ACI leadership
- Prepare and gather any safety information needed to enable safety standards and procedures to be effectively communicated to other ACI employees
- Be responsible for making sure that all ACI subcontractors adhere to ACI's and the customer's safety policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Assistant Project Manager duties
- Complete job opening paperwork in a timely manner
- Set up and maintain project books, post addendums, bid changes in specifications and drawings, and submit reviews
- Acquire quotes from vendors and subcontractors
- Copy and file construction documents
- Track material deliveries, price and input change requests, perform quantity takeoffs of materials, check list material orders, prepare and process O&M’s
- Communicate with staff, customers, vendors, architects, engineers, etc.
- Attend job-related meetings and be prepared to provide project information
- Monitor job progress, pick up or deliver information, maintain drawings
- Assist in areas of estimating and purchasing on a ‘per job’ basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a construction safety role or similar
- OSHA10 and OSHA30 required
- CPR certified
- Driving record meets company requirements
- Successful passing of pre-employment drug screening required

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Primarily works in the office, however, some out-of-town and overnight travel may be expected. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noises, and more within OSHA standards when visited the jobsite. Employees may be exposed to outdoor conditions that include inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, wind, and dust. May be expected to carry up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, stand for long periods of time, walk for moderate-to-long distances on varying surface conditions, climb, crawl, crouch, reach, grip, push, and pull without issue.
