Role Overview

The Payment Exceptions Officer is responsible for investigating, managing, and resolving payment-related exceptions, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of transactions while minimizing financial, operational, and compliance risks. The role involves working closely with internal teams, banking partners, merchants, and customers to identify root causes of payment issues and implement effective resolutions. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity, efficiency, and compliance of payment operations while supporting excellent client service and risk management standards.

What you will do

  • Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, including rejected, failed, duplicated, delayed, or unmatched transactions.
  • Monitor payment processing systems and identify transaction anomalies or discrepancies.
  • Analyze payment data and transaction records to determine the cause of exceptions.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, financial institutions, card schemes, and external partners to resolve payment-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and card scheme rules.
  • Maintain accurate records of investigations, resolutions, and actions taken.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to reduce payment exceptions and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Prepare reports and provide insights on exception trends, root causes, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of operational procedures and knowledge documentation.

Who you are

  • Fluent in English.
  • Computer Literacy – comfortable working with excel.
  • You work well within a team as well as on your own initiative.
  • Strong numeric skills.
  • Strong Organisational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
  • You must be able to communicate well and support key stakeholders and departments.
  • Ability to be flexible within a fast growing global company.
  • Quality focused with attention to detail.
  • Proven time management skills and the ability to delive ​ r on tight deadlines.
  • Must display initiative and a common sense approach.
  • Previous experience in Payments industry is essential .
