The Opportunity
Ordnance Survey’s Consumer channel helps millions of people discover, explore and enjoy Great Britain’s outdoors through our trusted printed maps, the OS Maps app, and through a range of digital, direct, retail and partner routes to market.
As Head of Consumer Channel, you’ll create and lead the strategy and performance of our Consumer (B2C) business, shaping how we acquire , retain and grow our customer base across every touchpoint.
This is a central leadership role at the heart of our consumer business. You’ll direct Sales and Marketing L eads and work closely with Product and Proposition teams to define a single, integrated omnichannel direction, ensuring customer journeys, propositions and experiences operate as a connected system driving sustainable growth and long-term value.
You’ll be accountable for delivering revenue, growth and customer experience outcomes, balancing short-term performance with long-term sustainability, and ensuring all Consumer activity is aligned to clear commercial priorities.
What You’ll Do
Consumer Channel Leadership
Own and lead the Consumer channel strategy and performance, defining priority audiences, propositions, journeys and funnel focus across all B2C touchpoints.
End-to-End Commercial Performance
Drive acquisition, retention, growth and revenue performance, ensuring customer journeys from awareness through to in-life engagement are connected, insight-led and effective.
Omnichannel Strategy & Delivery
Set a clear, integrated direction across digital, retail, direct and partner channels, ensuring consistency of experience and maximising commercial impact.
Joint Leadership Model
Lead through a Sales and Marketing leadership pairing, ensuring shared ownership of priorities, plans and outcomes across the Consumer channel.
Product & App Partnership
Work closely with Product teams to translate channel strategy into product and app-based experiences (e.g. OS Maps), aligning priorities without owning delivery.
Insight, Data & Optimisation
Use customer insight, performance data and feedback loops to drive prioritisation, improve funnel performance and continuously refine strategy.
Investment & Trade-Offs
Make informed investment decisions across the Consumer channel, balancing competing priorities and aligning with wider channel and enablement leaders to maximise value.
Cross-Functional Alignment
Ensure clear alignment between strategy (“what”) and delivery (“how”), working with marketing, product and enablement teams to execute effectively through others.
About You
You are a senior, commercially driven leader with strong experience in consumer (B2C) environments and a track record of delivering growth through clear strategy and cross-functional leadership.
- Proven experience leading consumer sales, commercial or channel functions
- Strong understanding of omnichannel strategy across digital, retail, direct and partner environments
- Deep commercial expertise across acquisition, retention, pricing, subscription models and customer lifetime value
- Experience defining and executing end-to-end customer journeys and funnel strategies
- Experience delivering growth strategies through product and app-based development (e.g. mobile or digital platforms)
- Highly data-literate, using customer insight and performance analytics to drive decisions
- Strong experience working across sales, marketing, product and proposition teams
- Skilled at managing investment trade-offs and competing priorities
- Confident operating in complex, evolving environments, providing clarity and direction
- Strong communicator and influencer, able to align stakeholders around shared commercial outcomes
- Comfortable maintaining clear accountability boundaries between strategy and delivery

Location
We embrace a hybrid working model at OS, because we believe in flexibility and balance . You’ll be based at our fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire, where you'll spend a minimum of 3 days of your working week collaborating face-to-face with colleagues.
