Role Title: Assistant Project Manager

Business Unit: Digital Infrastructure

Location: Leicester Based with Travel

Role Overview

To assist the Project Managers with production functions on contracts allocated by the Directors from award through to the issue of the Making Good Defects Certificate. In some cases to assume the role of Project Manager on smaller projects.

To maintain and maximise quality of service and profitability.

Maintain and enforce safety & environmental standards as required by statute and company’s safety policies.

Note: The job responsibilities and the position to whom the job holder reports, may vary from time to time. As a consequence the job responsibilities will include but may not be limited to any or all of the following items as required by the Project Manager, Operations Manager or Director.

  • Stay informed of relevant employment law, regulations, and industry requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee projects to ensure successful delivery.
  • Maintain project programmes and schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend and contribute to stakeholder and project progress meetings as required.
  • Implement and manage company systems, procedures, and project set-up activities.
  • Optimise the use of company resources and monitor project progress.
  • Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and departments.
  • Support commercial processes to maximise cash flow, profitability, and timely payments.
  • Identify and manage variations, claims, and final accounts promptly.
  • Maintain effective financial controls across suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Coordinate maintenance and defect resolution activities after project completion.
  • Share lessons learned and key project information with relevant teams.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports and management information.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Support business development activities and identify future opportunities.
  • Champion health, safety, wellbeing, and compliance across all activities.
  • Assess and manage risks relating to people, projects, and company assets.
  • Communicate business and project updates clearly across teams.
  • Facilitate regular team briefings and encourage open communication.

About you

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, infrastructure, utilities or
  • Experienced in and knowledge of CDM 2015 and the Principal Design role.
  • Aware of H&S responsibilities and adheres to company policies.
  • Able read and interpret design and construction programmes.
  • Understands buildability and will challenge if designs do not meet the sequencing or construction methodology.
  • Analytical with advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Able to develop ideas and present concisely.
  • Excellent communicator able to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Able to demonstrate commercial acumen and managing of design change process
