Overview of Role/Principle Responsibilities

The Head of Operations, Taiwan is responsible for the leadership, oversight and strategic direction of the Taiwan operating platform. The role is accountable for ensuring robust day-to-day operational delivery, operational resilience, regulatory compliance and readiness to support the continued growth of Schroders' Taiwan business.

The role acts as the senior operational representative in Taiwan, balancing local market requirements with regional and global operating model objectives. Working closely with the Taiwan CEO, Country Leadership Team, APAC Operations leadership, global functional teams and strategic third parties, the role will drive operational excellence, scalable growth and the evolution of the Taiwan operating model.

The role is expected to provide strong local leadership across complex operational activities that must remain in-country, while ensuring alignment with Group Operations strategy, controls and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Objectives

  • Lead and oversee all operational activities supporting Schroders Taiwan's onshore and offshore business.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and controlled execution of operational processes across fund operations, transaction operations and associated support activities.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely investment accounting records to support the Investment and Distribution activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Taiwan regulatory requirements and local market practices.
  • Act as the primary point of escalation for operational issues, incidents and client servicing matters.
  • Maintain high standards of operational risk management, control effectiveness and service quality.
  • Strengthen operational resilience through enhanced cross-training and multi-skilling initiatives of operational teams.
  • Oversee relationships with custodians, fund administrators, distributors, brokers and other operational service providers.
  • Act as the operational lead supporting Taiwan's strategic growth agenda. Partner with business stakeholders to support new products, distribution initiatives and market expansion opportunities.
  • Partner with Technology, Change and Operations teams to deliver operational improvement initiatives. Promote innovation, automation and adoption of new tools and processes across the function.
  • Support end client interactions typically for new business propositions and existing client due diligence visits

People / Leadership Objectives

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development for Taiwan Operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning and client focus.
  • Ensure quality, range and availability of relevant skills is appropriate to meet the needs of the business.
  • Lead the evolution of Taiwan Operations toward the global operating model while maintaining local market requirements.
  • Ensure staff are trained and motivated to fulfil their objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on implementing new products, projects and operating models.
  • Act as a role model for Schroders' values and leadership behaviours.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant asset management operations experience in Taiwan, with 5+ years of people management experience and demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Deep operational experience with relevant exposure in the Asset Management industry, to be able to understand the complexities of the functions and regulatory environment within which Schroders operate in Taiwan.
  • Strong transformational mindset with a passion for innovation, finding efficiency and supporting growth.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching and organisational development capabilities.
  • Ability to balance local market requirements with regional and global operating model objectives.
  • Ability to work with numerous internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisation skills and responsiveness levels.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English.
