What You'll Do
The Mental Health Therapist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, person-centered behavioral health care to individuals experiencing complex mental health and co-occurring needs. This position provides clinically informed assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and recovery-focused support that directly contributes to stabilization, safety, and continuity of care. This role is responsible for completing psychosocial assessments, developing and documenting individualized service plans, facilitating individual, group, and family therapy within scope of practice, and coordinating referrals and community resources to support each individual’s recovery goals. Serving as an essential member of the interdisciplinary team, the Therapist provides clinical oversight as assigned, ensures timely and accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements, and helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that supports positive outcomes for individuals served .
- Conducts a thorough, accurate, clinically sound Psychosocial Assessment with the individual within 72 hours of admission to Walk-in or observation and within 24 hours for individual’s admitted to the CSU. Maintains the clinic record, including documentation of activities performed as part of the service delivery process. Obtain signatures from individuals regarding treatment, as necessary.
- Provides internal education regarding DBT, trauma informed care, harm reduction, and service plan documentation.
- Prepares clinical reports and individualized service plans utilizing agency electronic clinical documentation software. Ensures documentation complies with the best clinical practices, contracts, regulatory and other legal requirements.
- Conducts brief interventions, individual, family and group counselling within scope of practice. Participates in redirecting individual behavior while maintaining a safe milieu when necessary.
- Documents all services and individual activities appropriately.
- Arranges for referral and placement of individuals in community substance use programs, housing, or employment opportunities.
- Provides case management services to promote recovery and community reintegration. Conducts crisis interventions and follow up as necessary. Maintain a working knowledge of the 302 Involuntary Commitment process in Pennsylvania.
- Participates in individual and group supervision as required. Participates in ongoing education, including in-services, training, and other activities to maintain and improve competency.
- Demonstrate competency through post-testing, skill observation, and performance as assessed by direct supervision.
- Completes continued authorizations for clinical and billing purposes.
- Complete all required training, attend monthly meetings, and maintain required competencies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, substance dependency, or related field
- Unrestricted license as a Pennsylvania Licensed Mental Health Professional, including one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- 3 years of experience in an acute mental health setting, substance use treatment or relevant work
- Knowledge of principles of recovery, family of origin/intergenerational issues, and co-occurring psychiatric disorders
- Knowledge and experience working with special populations (individuals identified as having serious mental illness, family systems, substance use diagnoses, brain injuries and those over 60 years of age)
- Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
- The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
- Complete all credentialing requirements within the required time period, including but not limited to obtaining a National Provider Identifier (NPI), Medallion enrollment, Medicare enrollment, and any other necessary credentials as required for the role
- Must pass the following background checks
- Child Abuse Clearance
- FBI Criminal Background Check
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
- Medical screenings (Physical, TB, Drug test)
It would be great if you had
- BLS (Basic Life Support) must be obtained within seven days of hire
- Experience in acute mental health crisis settings
