About The Role

The Business Development Executive plays a vital role in supporting the growth of the firm's business. The role is responsible for coordinating business development initiatives, client engagement activities, bids and marketing efforts.

The successful candidate will work as part of an international team and must be a highly proactive, versatile and organised professional. Working closely with lawyers, business services teams and external stakeholders, they will support business development and revenue-generating initiatives and help strengthen client relationships.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, commercial awareness, and a client-focused, service-oriented mindset. They will be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities and building effective relationships across a professional services environment while delivering high-quality support to business development activities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Client Growth and Strategic Opportunities

  • Support the success and ongoing development of the firm's strategic joint venture with China Commercial Law Firm (CCL) and other business partners, working on joint business development opportunities and market engagement activities, including client events, seminars, thought leadership programmes, marketing campaigns and relationship-building activities.
  • Assist with relationship management with key external organisations, government-affiliated bodies, industry associations and business networks in Shenzhen and the Qianhai Free Trade Zone, including Belt and Road-related associations, chambers of commerce, industry groups and strategic partners, to support market engagement, business development opportunities and the firm's profile in the region.
  • Conduct market, client and competitor research to identify emerging trends, industry developments and strategic opportunities that support business growth and client acquisition. Monitor and report on business development activities, client engagement initiatives and strategic opportunities, providing insights to support decision-making, relationship growth and business planning.
  • Lead the design and delivery of targeted business development campaigns, client engagement initiatives and sector-focused activities that strengthen the firm's position in key growth markets and priority industry sectors.
  • Support the delivery of business development initiatives that align with the firm's Greater China and Asia Pacific growth strategy, helping to strengthen market presence, deepen client relationships and contribute to sustainable revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with partners, lawyers and business services teams to identify, develop and pursue new business opportunities, with a particular focus on priority sectors, cross-border mandates and growth opportunities arising from the Shenzhen office, Qianhai Free Trade Zone and the firm's China platform.
  • Assist with client feedback, relationship reviews and client engagement initiatives to identify growth opportunities.
  • Track, analyse and report on client development activities and outcomes.

Branding, Marketing, Pursuits, Bids and Proposals

  • Support the preparation of high quality and client-focused bids, proposals, pitches and client presentations.
  • Assist with pursuit activities through research, coordination and proposal development.
  • Maintain credentials, deal experience and supporting materials for business development opportunities.
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance the firm's market profile and client engagement.

Communications and Thought Leadership

  • Support internal and external communications initiatives, including website content, social media platforms (such as WeChat and LinkedIn), client alerts, newsletters and marketing campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development, marketing, sales or office management within a professional services environment, preferably in the legal, accounting, financial or engineering sectors
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Experience supporting events, client engagement initiatives and administrative operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM or marketing systems.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin.
  • Knowledge of immigration processes, office administration and vendor management in China would be advantageous.
