JOB SUMMARY

The Developmental Trainer/Direct Support Person (DSP) will support the people served at the Lincoln Avenue Community Day Services Program as they engage in activities of their choice at the program site or in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive in a variety of weather conditions during the day or evening
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma (via transcripts) or GED from an accredited educational institution
  • Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46) and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
  • Successfully complete and maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Successfully complete Direct Support Person training in accordance with IDHS requirements (if not already certified as a Direct Support Person)
  • Experience supporting people with I/DD is preferred

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Develop a rapport with persons served
  • Transport people to activities of their choosing and to/from the program to their homes in agency-owned vehicles
  • Support people by assisting with daily living needs, such as grooming, preparing food, and restroom hygiene
  • Assist with setting-up and cleaning-up before/after breaktimes
  • Provide support and guidance regarding workplace behavior/etiquette
  • Review individualized plans and document the services/supports provided on a daily basis
  • Accurately record arrival, departure, and other activity times
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Assist in planning and implementing program-based or community activities based on the input of those served
  • Assure that the workplace is clean, neat, and free of potential safety hazards

SCHEDULE

  • Permanent, Full-Time (35 hours per week)
  • Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 am - 3 pm
  • Major holidays off

WAGES

$18.25/hour to start with a $0.50/hour increase after completion of paid training

Paid every two weeks with a direct deposit option
