Admissions Application Reader – Temporary/Part-Time (School of Medicine)

Pay: $20/hour

Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week

Employment Period: Early November through the end of January

Training: Required training during October

Location: Primarily remote; must reside in Utah

Help Shape the Next Class of Medical Students

The BYU School of Medicine is seeking temporary, part-time Admissions Application Readers to support the medical school admissions process. In this role, you will learn and apply established application review guidelines to evaluate and score admissions applications.

Your careful review will play an important role in helping the School of Medicine identify applicants who are a strong fit for the program and contribute to shaping the incoming class of medical students.

What You'll Be Doing In This Position

  • Review medical school admissions applications and evaluate them using a predetermined scoring rubric. (95%)
  • Enter application scores and responses into the admissions reader portal. (5%)
  • Apply established guidelines consistently and thoughtfully.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive applicant information.

What Qualifies You For This Role

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to access and use a computer and reliable internet to perform work.
  • Must reside in Utah.
  • Must be available to attend required training and occasional meetings in person.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare and/or higher education.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and work independently.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and established guidelines.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Basic computer skills.

Important Schedule & Availability Requirements

This is a temporary seasonal position with a significant amount of flexibility, but applicants must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Approximately 20 hours of work per week from early November through the end of January.
  • Required training during the month of October.
  • Availability during the holiday season is essential.
  • Work may be completed during evenings and weekends as needed.
  • There is no fixed daily schedule, allowing you to determine when you complete your assigned hours.
  • Required training and occasional meetings will take place in person.

Work Location & Flexibility

This is primarily a remote, flexible position . After completing required in-person training, readers will generally work from home using their own computer and internet connection. There are no fixed work schedules, providing flexibility to complete assignments at times that work best for you, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation

  • $20/hour
  • Readers who continue in the position in subsequent years are eligible for a $0.50/hour increase for each year they remain in the role.
