Role Responsibilities

Lead the AML Compliance function for Western Union’s three legal entities in Argentina, ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
Manage and develop a team of 5 compliance professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and performance oversight.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, including the Argentine Financial Information Unit (UIF) and the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA), coordinating regulatory interactions and reporting obligations.
Design, implement, and continuously enhance the Compliance Program, including AML policies, procedures, controls, training, and reporting frameworks.
Oversee transaction monitoring activities, suspicious activity reporting, and other AML compliance processes to mitigate financial crime risks.
Provide compliance guidance and risk-based advice for new products, business initiatives, and strategic projects to support business growth.
Manage the Agent Oversight Program, ensuring agents and partners maintain effective compliance frameworks aligned with regulatory and company standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Master Agents in Uruguay and Paraguay, promoting compliance excellence and regulatory adherence.
Drive process improvement and transformation initiatives, leveraging data, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen compliance effectiveness.

Role Requirements

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree, Compliance certification, or related advanced qualification preferred and 5+ years of experience in AML Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance, Risk, or Regulatory Compliance within financial services, payments, banking, fintech, regulatory agencies, or related industries.
Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience managing teams and multiple direct reports.
Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, KYC/KYA requirements, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, and compliance program management.
Proven ability to engage with regulators, senior executives, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, influencing decisions and driving outcomes.
Fluent English communication skills, with strong analytical, strategic thinking, change management, and problem-solving capabilities.
