Job Description

As a Contamination Free Manufacturing (CFM) Associate Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliability of environmental contamination detection and monitoring systems to safeguard cleanroom manufacturing operations. This role focuses on monitoring and controlling airborne molecular contamination (AMC), airborne particles, humidity, and temperature to prevent environmental excursions that could impact wafer quality and production yield.

You will work closely with Facilities, Process, Equipment, and Chemical Laboratory teams to investigate contamination events, resolve alarms, and support contamination control initiatives. The position requires continuous monitoring of fab environmental conditions, rapid response to contamination-related issues, and proactive actions to maintain stable manufacturing operations.

This role operates on a 12-hour rotating shift (day/night) schedule and requires the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, reporting, and continuous improvement skills are essential.

Principal Accountabilities

Contamination Monitoring & Alarm Management

  • Serve as the CFM Shift Leader and the first line of defense for contamination control during shift operations.
  • Monitor airborne particle and AMC monitoring systems and respond promptly to contamination alarms.
  • Escalate contamination events according to established alarm escalation procedures, corrective action system (CAS), and specifications.
  • Conduct routine environmental surveillance to detect abnormal trends before they develop into excursions.

Investigation & Problem Resolution

  • Perform initial investigations of contamination incidents and identify potential contamination sources.
  • Collaborate with Equipment, Process, Facilities, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve contamination-related issues.
  • Prepare comprehensive incident reports, including investigation findings, root cause analysis and corrective actions

Data Analysis & Process Control

  • Analyze SPC charts, baseline trends, and monitoring data to identify contamination deviations, drift, or abnormal conditions.
  • Determine the root cause of contamination excursions resulting from internal or external environmental factors.
  • Utilize data-driven methodologies to support operational decisions and contamination risk mitigation.

System Reliability & Maintenance

  • Plan, coordinate, and follow up on calibration, preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and repair activities for CFM monitoring systems.
  • Ensure AMC monitoring systems, airborne particle counters, environmental sensors, and mini-environment measurement instruments remain fully functional and meet uptime targets.
  • Work proactively with system suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve equipment issues and improve system reliability.

Environmental Monitoring & Reporting

  • Perform routine cleanroom environmental monitoring, including air sampling and environmental baseline measurements.
  • Track environmental performance indicators and maintain monitoring dashboards.
  • Generate accurate and timely reports to support operational reviews and decision-making.

Team Leadership & Operational Support

  • Lead, guide, and support CFM technicians and operators during shift operations.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship to enhance team competency and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure effective shift handover through clear, accurate, and timely communication of ongoing issues and priorities.

Material Qualification Support

  • Support material outgassing certification activities to ensure new materials comply with contamination control requirements prior to fab introduction.
  • Assist in evaluating contamination risks associated with new materials, consumables, and process changes.

KPI Management & Operational Excellence

  • Monitor and manage CFM operational KPIs, ensuring performance targets are consistently achieved.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on contamination detection, automation, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Support digitalization and AI-driven solutions for contamination monitoring, data analysis, reporting, and predictive detection.

EHSS Compliance

  • Comply with all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) policies, procedures, and guidelines applicable to the scope of work.
  • Promote a safe working environment by identifying risks, following established controls, and contributing to a strong safety culture.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics and Microelectronics Engineering
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience preferred
