Camp Baer is a new retreat-style substance use disorder treatment center opening in November 2026 in the wooded hills outside Morgantown, West Virginia. Designed to feel different from a traditional treatment facility, Camp Baer will provide a peaceful, restorative environment where individuals can step away from the pressures of everyday life and focus fully on healing, recovery, connection, and building a meaningful life.

We are looking for an experienced, mission-driven Clinical Director who wants the opportunity to help build something from the ground up.

This is more than maintaining an established clinical program. The Clinical Director will help shape the clinical culture, develop the treatment team, establish strong clinical systems, and create an exceptional patient experience from opening day forward.

What You’ll Do

The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for the clinical services of Camp Baer and is responsible for ensuring patients receive high-quality, ethical, evidence-based, person-centered treatment.

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of the clinical department.
  • Establish and maintain a strong therapeutic culture focused on dignity, accountability, connection, and long-term recovery.
  • Ensure clinical programming is evidence-based, trauma-informed, individualized, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Oversee clinical assessments, treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, family engagement, discharge planning, and continuing-care coordination.
  • Ensure clinical services are delivered according to patient needs, treatment plans, and appropriate levels of care.
  • Promote multiple pathways to recovery and an individualized approach to treatment.
  • Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Build the Program

Because Camp Baer is a new facility opening in November 2026, this leader will play an important role in building the clinical program before and during opening.

  • Partner with the Executive Director and organizational leadership to implement the clinical model.
  • Help develop programming schedules, group structure, clinical workflows, documentation expectations, and department processes.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing clinical team members.
  • Establish clear expectations for clinical quality, documentation, accountability, and patient experience.
  • Develop a team culture where clinicians feel supported, challenged, and connected to the mission.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve clinical services as the program grows.

Clinical Supervision & Team Development

  • Provide or coordinate clinical supervision consistent with West Virginia licensing requirements and organizational standards.
  • Coach clinicians in assessment, treatment planning, clinical interventions, documentation, professional boundaries, and case conceptualization.
  • Conduct regular individual and team supervision.
  • Support professional development and continuing education.
  • Evaluate clinical performance and address performance or competency concerns promptly.
  • Foster collaboration among clinical, medical, nursing, case management, peer support, admissions, and operations teams.

Specialty Clinical Programming

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of specialized clinical tracks designed to meet the needs of distinct patient populations, including professionals, veterans, first responders, and individuals with significant trauma histories .
  • Develop programming that recognizes the unique clinical, occupational, family, identity, and reintegration challenges that may accompany substance use disorders among professionals and veterans.
  • Ensure specialty tracks are clinically meaningful and integrated into the patient’s individualized treatment plan rather than operating as stand-alone programming.
  • Establish clinical pathways for patients experiencing co-occurring substance use disorders, trauma-related disorders, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health conditions.
  • Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, nursing, peer support, case management, and community partners to ensure coordinated treatment for complex co-occurring conditions.
  • Evaluate clinical outcomes and patient feedback to continuously strengthen specialty programming

Quality, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure clinical documentation is timely, accurate, clinically meaningful, and supports the patient's treatment journey.
  • Maintain strong standards around the clinical “golden thread” from assessment through treatment planning, services, progress, and discharge.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable West Virginia requirements, organizational policies, accreditation expectations, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 .
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement, utilization review, chart review, incident review, and performance-improvement activities.
  • Assist leadership with regulatory surveys, accreditation preparation, corrective action plans, and ongoing readiness.
  • Ensure clinicians maintain required licenses, credentials, competencies, and training.

Patient Experience

  • Maintain a visible presence within the program and remain connected to the patient experience.
  • Ensure patients are treated with dignity, compassion, respect, and professionalism.
  • Address clinical concerns, grievances, treatment barriers, and complex cases.
  • Help create an environment that balances excellent clinical care with the restorative, retreat-style experience envisioned for Camp Baer.
  • Model trauma-informed leadership and reinforce healthy professional boundaries between team members and patients.

The ideal Clinical Director is both an excellent clinician and a strong people leader.

You are someone who can build structure without losing compassion, hold high clinical standards without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, and create an environment where patients and employees feel respected, supported, and accountable.

You are comfortable building something new and understand that opening a behavioral health program requires flexibility, collaboration, and hands-on leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Active or eligible professional clinical license in the State of West Virginia appropriate to the services provided.
  • Independent clinical licensure strongly preferred.
  • Experience providing substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health treatment required.
  • Prior clinical leadership, supervisory, or program-management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in residential, inpatient, withdrawal management, or other structured behavioral health environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of clinical assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, case conceptualization, and evidence-based behavioral health treatment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, professional ethics, patient rights, and clinical documentation requirements.
  • Experience with Joint Commission or other behavioral health accreditation standards preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and develop multidisciplinary clinical professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily on-site at Camp Baer in the Morgantown, West Virginia area.
  • Position requires regular interaction with patients, clinical staff, leadership, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • May require schedule flexibility during facility opening, periods of increased census, regulatory surveys, or significant clinical events.
  • Ability to work within a residential behavioral health treatment environment and respond appropriately to clinical and operational situations as they arise.
