About The Role

Purpose

To maintain the battery fleet per manufacture’s recommendations, and to provide safe, efficient and professional service to all internal customers.

Primary Job Functions

  • Change batteries as needed for production, sanitation and maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all batteries as scheduled.
  • Perform repairs on batteries as needed to include cables, connectors, cells, and cases.
  • Perform minor repairs to battery charging equipment (cables, connectors, etc.) as needed.
  • Respond to and assist in hazardous cleanup from accidents involving a battery.
  • Test battery performance using test equipment.
  • Must maintain a 5S work environment at all times.
  • Must maintain accurate battery logs
  • Responsible for all incoming and outgoing batteries. This includes preparation and documentation.
  • May be required to assist others with repairs of the Fire Protection/Suppression systems
  • Other duties assigned by management

Skills and Abilities to Perform Job

  • Must have the ability to operate work related equipment and tools (hand and power) to include powered equipment, forklifts, man-lifts, pallet jacks, and all types of testing equipment.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • A license (DOT) to drive company vehicles
  • The ability to interact with all warehouse employees in a professional manor
  • Must be able to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance, repair and service procedures
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work at both ground level and in high places to perform job tasks and duties
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities and tasks
  • Must have the ability to operate work related equipment and tools (hand and power) to include powered equipment, forklifts, man-lifts, pallet jacks and all types of diagnostic equipment
  • Must have the ability to learn and follow Company and Distribution Center policies and procedures encompassing work orders, purchase requisitions/orders, spare parts and supplies inventories
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend all labeling on hazardous materials and equipment in the facility(s)

  • Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and materials necessary to perform job functions

  • Exposure to high-voltage current and equipment exists on the Complex with Utility provider equipment, welding equipment, back-up auxiliary generators, and switch gear

  • Potential exposure to vehicle and equipment lubricants and solvents exists
  • -
  • Work environment temperature ranges from -20F degrees to +80F degrees with appropriate PPE
  • -
  • Exposure to work tasks may be required at second or third story levels (approximately 20’ to 40’) from finished floor levels
