The Head HR Singapore is responsible for the management of a team of 4 HR Consultants in Singapore. This entails being an inspiring and encouraging leader, helping the team to deliver comprehensive HR services to meet the needs of our line management and employees. He/she is accountable for all local HR services in Singapore. Furthermore, he/she may be required to perform the role of a HR Consultant for a selected line of business as and when needed. Furthermore, he/she ensures HR policy adherence across units and balances the bank’s and our employees’ interest.

As a Senior Manager of the Bank (as defined under the Individual Accountability and Conduct policy), you are principally responsible for day-to-day management of People, Brand & Marketing and conduct of the business activities in the capacity of your role as Head HR Singapore. This also includes but not limited to non-financial KPIs, corporate governance and risk management controls, ethical and compliant behaviours and actions of your employees or other conduct matters relating to the function under your purview. As a Senior Manager, you are also to comply with the standards of conducts expected and satisfy the fitness and propriety on an on-going basis.

YOUR CHALLENGE

People Management

  • Ensure that each team member adheres to all relevant internal processes, procedures and policies
  • Unite the team, build up mutual trust, strengthen the team spirit across countries and cultures, and create an inspiring, supportive and collaborative environment
  • Forster continuous learning within the team, strive for excellence together, and share successes and mistakes
  • Manage performance of each team member by setting targets, monitoring progress and reviewing achievements
  • Represent HR in the Management Committees of the Singapore Branch and act as an interface between Business Management, the Centres of Expertise and HR Consulting Support Centre
  • Manage and plan the workforce in the different local teams through deploying, relocating, motivating and supporting team members, through hiring of new employees, but also through decently managing low performers
  • Develop the team under consideration of team member’s needs and desires where possible (skills, training, career, people development plan “PDP”

Client Management (internal & external)

  • Support and implement the HR strategy in accordance with the strategy of the Bank and the strategy of the business
  • Support Senior Management in their Human Capital Management activities (Strategic Workforce Management, Succession Planning, Talent Management, Low Performer Process etc.)
  • Consult and coach Senior Management in people management and complex HR issues with a broader scope
  • Hiring of senior management and specialists as well as close collaboration with Strategic Recruiting Team for RM hiring

Business Management

  • Support and coordinate the Year-end Process (Compensation, Performance Assessment and Potential Evaluation)
  • Deliver advice in Organizational Design and Development
  • Manage local HR projects

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the actions of employees under your charge and the conduct of the business under your purview
  • Actively promote the core values of Julius Baer to ensure appropriate ethical and compliant behaviour within the area of responsibility
  • Review and update Material Risk Personnel (MRP) appointments within the function as defined under the Individual Accountability and Conduct policy. Pro-actively identify and manage Fit & Proper gaps, if any, of the MRP population in the function

  • Ensure appropriate ethical and compliant behaviour within the function by clear demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Personal and Social

  • Sound management and leadership skills
  • Strong organisational, team building and interpersonal skills
  • Senior personality with easy access to senior management, high empathy, charisma and managerial courage
  • Passion and interest in strategic HR topics
  • Excellent networking skills
  • Natural team player and enthusiastic to achieve results in a team
  • Drive for results and ability to set priorities, to coordinate processes, to meet tight deadlines and to reprioritise tasks if needed

Professional and Technical

  • Solid management and leadership experience (both direct and indirect reporting lines)
  • University degree and preferably further education in HR Management
  • Profound expertise as HR Generalist and Business Partner, preferably from the financial sector
  • Former involvement in an HR transformation initiative preferred and advantageous
  • Experienced with senior management contracts, reward schemes
  • Sound verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times
  • Business acumen
