About The Role
- I. Job Summary
- Ensures the safe and efficient daily operation of the landfill laboratory.
- II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages all laboratory personnel, data, and quality control.
- Implements waste analysis plan and RCRA regulations as it pertains to analysis and testing.
- Reviews special waste to determine acceptability for hazardous waste disposal.
- Performs routine laboratory functions as assigned.
- Facilitates the receipt of materials for treatment and disposal in compliance with WM policies and procedures, including state and federal guidelines.
- Applies appropriate treatment and disposal methodologies to be utilized at the facility for the specific waste.
- Ensures that the health and safety of the employees and environment is maximized.
- Oversees personnel needs of the laboratory including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Works with other supervisors/managers to coordinate services and keep them informed as issues arise.
- Keeps district manager fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
- Makes personal contact with customers and assists them with questions and/or concerns as appropriate.
- Ensures safety, cleanliness and organization of laboratory work area and related storage areas.
- Conducts and/or attends and contributes to periodic meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees.
- Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- III. Qualifications
- A. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Chemistry, or in lieu of degree,
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
- 7 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

☒ Combination: This job operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
Pay : The expected base pay range for this on-site position is $95,700 - $121,990 per year. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
