Reporting to the Head of Discipline for Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EIC), this role has overall responsibility for providing Electrical Engineering support on our major projects

- Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market. Salary range for this position is CAD $160,000 - $200,000 per year. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Typical Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the electrical components of multi-disciplinary industrial projects
- Serve as the lead electrical engineer on projects, primarily on Canadian and US projects
- Along with other senior lead electrical engineers, lead the electrical engineering team for years to come through guidance and mentoring
- Work and communicate effectively within a team of Electrical engineers and designers
- Interface with other engineering disciplines, project management team, and vendors.
- Interface with clients during project scope development, design reviews, and progress meetings
- Prepare detailed proposal input and review electrical proposal inputs for quality and completeness
- Prepare estimates and schedules for complex heavy industrial electrical engineering projects as well as assisting in their review.
- Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, engineering and design calculations.
- Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required.
- Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of electrical engineering
- Execute engineering and design activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
- Develop specifications for equipment
- Perform engineering design and related duties including power system studies, equipment specifications and selection, management of vendor / equipment suppliers, power distribution layouts, grounding, LV and MV motor sizing and selection, cable distribution design, schematic, single line, termination schedule and wiring design.
- Perform engineering for procurement activities including Material Requisition for Quotation (MRQ) / Material Requisition for Purchase (MRP) development, technical evaluation / recommendation and vendor drawing approvals.
- Prepare technical evaluations of suppliers’ proposals
- Coordinate and interface with equipment vendors and review vendor documentation.
- Perform engineering development of Construction Work Package, including project description, construction specifications, IFC drawings and material lists.
- Prepare work plans and reports in a concise technical manner according to the applicable project specifics.
- Broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials.
- Assist with construction supervision as well as the commissioning of industrial electrical systems.
- Understand the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating.
- Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process.
- Maintain and plan cost control for all scopes of work.
- Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
- Conduct field assessments and provide construction support on occasion at client facilities and construction sites

Expected
- 20+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
- At least 10 years of experience leading the electrical discipline on large minerals and metals projects
- Must have experience on at least 5 multi-million dollar projects in the Mining industry
- Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's degree) from a recognized University. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized North American university
- Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of British Columbia or have the ability to register as one within approximately 3 months of hire. (PE in the US is an asset)
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
- Strong leadership qualities
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be familiar with electrical safety and code compliance requirements.
