About The Role

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing mechanical design solutions that improve product cost, manufacturability, quality, and performance across the product lifecycle.

This role supports Value Engineering and Component Engineering (VE/CE) initiatives by identifying productivity opportunities, executing redesign projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new and improved products to market.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, FEA analysis, manufacturing processes, and product development, with a proven track record of successfully launching products and delivering cost reduction initiatives.

  • Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production release.
  • Design and develop components and assemblies using 3D CAD tools, preferably PTC Creo.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, fit/function evaluations, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessments.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and CAE simulations to evaluate structural integrity, mechanical stresses, thermal performance, and product reliability.
  • Develop innovative solutions to improve product cost, quality, manufacturability, and performance.
  • Execute Value Engineering (VE) and Cost Reduction projects, identifying opportunities for material, process, and supplier optimization.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Product Management, and R&D teams to implement design changes.
  • Support product qualification activities including prototype development, testing, validation, and production implementation.
  • Interface with suppliers during design reviews, tooling development, process optimization, and manufacturing transfers.
  • Manage engineering changes, documentation releases, and product data within PLM/PDM systems.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for field or manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and design best practices.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Mechanical Product Design.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully launching products into production and the market.
  • Experience designing and developing:
  • Plastic injection molded parts
  • Sheet metal components
  • Castings
  • Machined parts
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods.
  • Experience creating and maintaining engineering drawings including GD&T.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of PLM/PDM systems.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
