Description
ATCO Frontec is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our team in Pond Inlet, NU. The Skilled Labourer is an essential member of our operations team assisting other experienced construction or trades staff with activities at the various work sites.
This position is temporary with a start date of September 23 to approximately October 21. Travel, meals, and accommodations included.
The schedule is 10 hours per day, 6 days per week.
Responsibilities
- Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
- Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment
- Manual excavation and trenching using hand and air operated tools
- Load and unload cargo and construction materials, and move materials to work areas using skid steers, loaders and pickup trucks
- Erect and dismantle, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
- Safe operation of hand and power tools
- Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role operating machinery would be considered an asset
- Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures
- Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling and
- Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to read drawings and blueprints
- Ability to build and work in a team environment is crucial along with a strong commitment to personal and team safety
