Join Morgan Stanley’s Non-Financial Risk Data & Analytics team in Budapest and help transform complex risk information into connected, searchable, and actionable knowledge. You will design and manage enterprise taxonomies that support semantic search, knowledge graphs, recommendation engines, and AI-enabled question-answering solutions .

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced taxonomist, information scientist, metadata specialist, knowledge manager, or data governance professional who wants to apply their expertise in a global financial-services environment. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, fellow taxonomists, information scientists, and Technology teams while building practical experience with machine learning, NLP, and GenAI .

The Non-Financial Risk Department provides independent oversight of risks including Financial Crimes, market manipulation or abuse, and Operational Risk. Within the team, NFR Data & Analytics develops advanced analytical solutions to help identify suspicious or prohibited behaviours.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrated taxonomies for the Non-Financial Risk domain
  • Translate complex financial, regulatory, and risk concepts into clear categories and relationships
  • Perform concept and entity analysis to improve classification and information discovery
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Data, and Technology teams to understand business needs and deliver scalable solutions
  • Establish taxonomy governance, documentation, quality standards, and change-management processes
  • Support the development of semantic search, knowledge graphs, recommendation engines, and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Explore how machine learning, NLP, and GenAI can enhance taxonomy creation, enrichment, and maintenance
  • Influence and shape taxonomy decisions while maintaining enterprise standards

What you’ll bring

  • 3–5 years’ experience in taxonomy management, information science, knowledge management, metadata management, information architecture, data governance, or ontology development
  • A degree in Library Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Data Management, or a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience creating new taxonomies and managing changes to existing structures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including concept or entity extraction and attention to detail
  • Experience with taxonomy management tools such as Smartlogic, PoolParty, TopBraid, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of metadata standards, semantic technologies, or information architecture
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with both business and technical stakeholders
  • An organised, collaborative, and curious mindset with a passion for improving how information is structured and discovered

Skills that would help you succeed

  • Knowledge of financial terminology, regulatory concepts, or Non-Financial Risk
  • Experience supporting risk management, vendor management, financial management, or procurement data
  • Familiarity with SKOS modelling, SPARQL, knowledge graphs, GenAI
  • Experience delivering taxonomy governance or change-management initiatives in a complex organisation
