As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in GE Vernova’s mission of enabling a more sustainable and reliable energy future by designing, developing, and enhancing mission-critical software solutions. Leveraging deep expertise in C++, Java, and modern software architectures, you will lead the development of reliable, scalable, and maintainable enterprise applications. You will be at the forefront of legacy modernization initiatives, helping to drive the adoption of cloud-native, full-stack, and AI-driven technologies.

Working closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional teams, you will translate complex business requirements into high-quality technical solutions. Beyond development, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, championing software engineering best practices and AI-integrated workflows across the organization. Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • AI Leadership: Integrate AI/ML capabilities into software products and establish organizational best practices for leveraging AI to increase developer productivity and software performance.
  • Engineering Excellence: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of robust, high-performance software components, ensuring adherence to modern architectural standards.
  • Modernization: Drive large-scale code refactoring, technical debt reduction, and system modernization initiatives to enhance scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Technical Stewardship: Provide mentorship and technical guidance through design and code reviews, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional global teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Process Advocacy: Champion Agile methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, and secure software development lifecycles (SSDLC).

Desired Qualifications

  • Core Expertise: 5–8+ years of experience in enterprise software development with strong proficiency in C++ and/or Java.
  • Architectural Mindset: Deep knowledge of design patterns, distributed systems, REST APIs, databases, and microservices architecture.
  • AI/Innovation: A forward-thinking approach to software development with a passion for integrating AI to improve performance and code quality.
  • Full-Stack Proficiency: Experience with modern web frameworks, containerization, and cloud-native development environments.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, influence engineering culture, and mentor junior engineers in a global, collaborative environment.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $109,480.00 and $164,220.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
