The job of an academic is challenging but meaningful. Not only will s/he have both the knowledge and working experience, s/he must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing, and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/ Institutional strategic initiatives will also be an important part of the job. The successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.
[What you will be working on]
As a lecturer in the School of Mathematical Sciences & Analytics, you will be primarily responsible for teaching in the domain of Technology and Analytics , with a focus on areas such as
- Artificial Intelligence,
- Data Science,
- Data Analytics,
- Data Visualisation, and
- Quantum Computing.
You will also be expected to teach in at least one complementary area such as
- Mathematics,
- Statistics, or
- Programming.
In line with SP's Common Core Curriculum, you will also be expected to teach at least one interdisciplinary module, which may include:
- Data Fluency
- Artificial Intelligence & Its Impact
- Persuasive Communication with Data Storytelling
- Problem Solving with Creative and Computational Thinking
Beyond the classroom, you will play an active role in shaping and evolving the curriculum. This includes
- Developing and reviewing course materials and assessments to enhance student learning, performance, and employability
- Staying current with trends and developments in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Visualisation, and Quantum Computing to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and up to date
- Undertaking project and consultancy work with internal and external stakeholders, applying your expertise in real-world contexts
[What we are looking for]
- Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring students
- Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team
- Relevant qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering
- Relevant industry experience and/or knowledge of how statistics is applied in different fields such as Data Analytics, Engineering or IT
- People-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written and communication skill
- Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
