Civil Engineer / Estimator (AI-Powered)

We're seeking a highly detail-oriented Civil Engineer with strong estimating experience and a passion for utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and speed in construction project workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare precise cost estimates and quotations for civil construction projects.
• Conduct quantity take-offs from plans and technical drawings.
• Review and analyze project specifications, tender documents, and engineering drawings.
• Use Claude AI to support the estimating process, documentation, report preparation, and workflow automation.
• Evaluate project costs, including materials, labor, and subcontractor rates.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and submit tenders, and manage estimate revisions.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and pricing records.
• Seek and identify opportunities to improve estimating processes through AI and technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Prior experience as a Civil Estimator, Cost Estimator, or Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods and estimating principles.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering plans and technical drawings.
• Professional experience using Claude AI (or comparable AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot).
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal English communication abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a remote, independent work environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, PlanSwift, Cubit, Buildxact, or similar).
• Familiarity with the Australian construction or estimating industry.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with construction project management tools.
• Background in tender submissions and procurement processes.
