About The Role

Purpose of role 

Join Ocorian's two-year Trainee Company Secretary Programme and build a rewarding career in corporate governance. Working with global funds clients, you'll gain hands-on experience while studying for an MSc in Management and Corporate Governance. Based in our Belfast office, you'll benefit from a comprehensive training programme, study-friendly working arrangements, and clear career progression, with the opportunity to be promoted to Company Secretary upon successful completion. We're looking for a motivated, fast learner who is eager to develop their knowledge and make an impact.

Key responsibilities 

  • Work alongside experienced professionals supporting global funds and corporate entities.
  • Play a key role in organising board and shareholder meetings and preparing governance documentation.
  • Gain exposure to fund launches, regulatory filings and corporate transactions.
  • Collaborate with directors, clients and industry specialists across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Learn how strong governance supports successful businesses and investment structures.
  • Manage statutory records and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop technical knowledge, commercial awareness and professional confidence through real-world experience.
  • Contribute to projects that make a genuine impact for clients and the wider business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • A degree-level qualification.
  • A commitment to studying towards, or currently undertaking, the CGI qualification (or equivalent) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • A willingness to learn and develop a broad understanding of Ocorian's services and clients.
