The Audio Technology Licensing organization focuses on developing scalable, portable, and high-performance audio technologies that can be deployed across a wide range of partner platforms and products.
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to join our Audio Technology Licensing Engineering Team in China.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines strong DSP fundamentals with a passion for solving real-world audio challenges across a wide variety of platforms, products, and customer use cases. You will contribute to the development, optimization, and deployment of licensable audio technologies that must perform reliably across diverse hardware and software environments.
Success in this role requires a balance of technical depth, problem-solving ability, customer focus, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with DSP experts, software and platform architects, product teams, and external customers to deliver robust, scalable audio solutions that meet demanding quality, performance, and commercialization requirements.
DSP Engineer Role
DSP engineers in the Audio Technology Licensing group work in cross-disciplinary, highly collaborative teams to develop and deploy signal processing algorithms that improve audio experiences for our technology partners and their customers.
You will contribute to a broad set of technologies including audio signal processing, speech and voice processing, noise reduction, and microphone array systems , and gain experience adapting algorithms to different hardware and software environments. This role provides strong opportunities for technical growth while maintaining clear ownership of deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Port and delivery Bose DSP algorithms for licensable audio technologies.
- Engage with China-based customers throughout opportunity development, product integration, and program execution.
- Translate customer requirements, audio quality expectations, and market-specific needs into technical recommendations and engineering solutions.
- Support technical evaluations, prototyping activities, product tuning, and issue resolution with customers and partners.
- Represent engineering perspectives in customer-facing discussions while balancing product, business, and program objectives.
- Adapt and optimize algorithms for diverse hardware architectures, DSP platforms, operating systems, and system constraints.
- Evaluate third-party technologies, algorithms, and software components, contributing to technical assessments and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure regional customer needs are effectively represented and addressed.
- Support the successful deployment of Bose audio technologies into commercial partner products.
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong subset of the following
Technical Skills
- Strong foundation in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), with practical experience in audio and/or speech processing.
- Proven experience in porting and deploying DSP algorithms on SoC, DSP, or embedded platforms, such as: ARM, RISC-V, Tensilica HiFi, Qualcomm Kalimba, etc.
- Experience in embedded Firmware development experience.
- Strong communication skills with vendors and customers.
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for algorithm development, analysis, and validation.
- Experience with algorithm optimization, including fixed-point implementations and performance tuning.
- Understanding of acoustics and electroacoustics, including microphones, loudspeakers, and audio measurement techniques.
- Ability to identify technical issues, drive root-cause analysis, and support timely resolution.
- Experience evaluating, integrating, and benchmarking third-party algorithms, software libraries, or technology solutions.
Desirable (Not Required)
- Experience applying machine learning techniques to audio systems, including speech enhancement, noise reduction, audio classification, or related applications.
- Familiarity with Bluetooth audio systems and associated performance constraints.
- Experience developing audio DSP solutions for Linux, Android or Windows operating systems.
- Understanding of how audio technologies are scaled and deployed across multiple hardware and software platforms.
- Experience working directly with external customers, technology partners, or system integrators.

Education & Experience
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a signal-processing-related field; MS preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience in audio signal processing, speech processing or related technology development.
