About The Role

The Product Stewardship & Regulatory Specialist supports the company's compliance with global, regional, and local chemical control, product safety, and environmental regulations applicable to paints, coatings, and related raw materials. This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of PSRA work assignments specific to either customer service or operational support activities following the procedures and work instructions that have been established for this function in a timely manner. The specialist is responsible for maintaining regulatory and product information, processing requests related to raw material regulatory data, reviewing vendor SDSs and raw material information changes or obsolescence and customer compliance inquiries. The position plays a key role in promoting product safety, regulatory compliance, and responsible product stewardship while supporting business objectives and innovation initiatives.

Customer and Operations Support

  • Complete work as assigned to fulfill PSRA customer requests in a timely manner, including but not limited to Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Environmental data sheets (EDS), IMDS/CAMDS sheets, SVHC/ RoHS/GADSL declarations, Banned & Restricted substance free statements, Certificate of Components (COC), etc.
  • Gather data and prepare reports related to the product stewardship and regulatory function for various purposes in support of company operations, including but not limited to HAPS/VOC reports, hazardous substance reports, substance volume tracking, etc.
  • Record completed requests in the designated tracking tool.
  • When required, obtain manager/supervisory review of work prior to release to customers.
  • Save copies of all completed work in the designated filing system within the function.
  • Seek to identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the function, including better use of existing Salesforce (SDFC) tools and the addition of new tools or programs that will deliver efficiency, improved service or reduce costs.
  • Seek to identify opportunities to improve customer service, to anticipate customer requests, or develop tools to provide more proactive customer service.

Raw Material Data Governance Support

  • Responsible for management of raw material vendor SDS changes, including but not limited to the acquisition of these vendor SDS, the pre-screening of the change validity and collaboration with other members of PSRA function to complete the raw material changes following established procedures.
  • Ensure that revised vendor SDS are adequately reviewed for new or updated information, make the appropriate changes in the designated IT systems. When significant, communicate such changes to Line Manager or follow established communication procedures. Upload revised vendor SDS to the designated IT systems.
  • Review the regulatory status of raw materials and components to ensure compliance with global substance management requirements or other applicable requirements, such as use or volume limitations.
  • Complete the data record in the raw material/substance database.
  • Maintain organized files of all raw material related regulatory documents in the designated file system within PSRA.
  • Follow established procedures and work instructions when performing assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the maintenance of accurate written procedures and work instructions for raw material related processes in the PSRA function.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experiences in product stewardship and/or regulatory affairs function, preferably in a multinational corporate environment.
  • Practical experiences in interpreting product regulatory requirements for chemical products.
  • Knowledge and experience assigning GHS classifications.
  • Knowledge and experience in SDS and label authoring/preparation.
  • Ability to understand complex regulations pertaining to chemical substances.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
  • Customer-focused, result-oriented and be able to work under pressure.
  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office products.
